Nocturne
I love it, if I wasn't already then I'd definately be jumping on Patricks kickstarter now.
webznz
looks like i am the only one that like the art more than the sculpt I would tend to agree with you, however I understand there are going to be some differences as converting something from 2d to 3d by eye and imagination there are going to have to be some compromises in that translation. Orlando_the_Technicoloured
Good but not great from my point of view the face is good, but has lost a bit of personality from the art and the hair ornaments are way too chunky, I realise this may be due to casting limitations, but if that's the case I'd have suggested loosing them. Don't take this as a hate fest though, I've decided to up from one to two on the scope of the sculpt
dispatchdave
Oh,. thank god. The sculpt fixed the hip and broken wrist.... Lookin' good, I'm glad I already planned on getting two. :) ETA: The knees look amazing. Seriously. Good job.
Sanael
Love the sculpt. Her face isn't quite as "come hither" as the art, but she's quite a beaut! Can't wait to give her some color.
ChaoticBlues
Makes me glad I already decided to get two. I think I'll paint one set as Cloud Giants and the other as Storm Giants.
Moderator Darsc Zacal Posted September 10, 2012 Moderator Share Posted September 10, 2012 Pretty much what others have said. I really liked Talins concept art. Yes the sculpt has it's differences, but I'm very pleased I allocated funds for two. Makes me glad I'm already backing Patricks own Bombshell Babes kickstarter. :)
buglips*the*goblin
Yehpima, Female Cloud Giant . . . Yehpyuarr! Anyway, now at least we know what she looks like (thank you thank you thank you) and people aren't arguing about cloud shapes. Nice work, Patrick, I think you did an exemplary job translating the stunning artwork. Now my only remaining wish is to get her in metal, but if I don't I'll be ok with plastic. But a metal one for my shelf . . . oh yes. Yes, I should very much like that. (wipes drool)
Foxfire
I quite like her sculpted face, she has that cute nose and a slightly more serious expression. I think the painted version will look amazing and can't wait to see one. Also with her hair ornaments, they should be floating.... like clouds. Partly I believe it's because they haven't been glued in properly. A little bit of paint and sitting them down will make it show much nicer. Really love it. My only complaint is that it is such a unique sculpt - you couldn't have a harem of them :D
Eternalhero1983
If you truly look at the picture of the Female sky/cloud Giant, she is in the modern female anime pose. This is a most popular and seductive posing that the artist was using probable to captivate two demographics of people. First are men, who are the larger demographics if you search out polls on RPG gaming between the ages 14-35, in other words sexual mature adults. The second is anime fan demographic which are both men and women between the ages of 14-35. The pose and concept art both entail these ideas of marketing to sell the model. Now Personally I like the model. I think that not all models have to be in Action Poses; however, I do agree that the model is in such an unrealistic pose that is takes the seriousness out of the model. That does not mean that I will not want the model once it comes to my position, I really want two of them. One for painting and the other for conversions. Adrift
Love the sculpt. Her face isn't quite as "come hither" as the art, but she's quite a beaut! Can't wait to give her some color. That is where good painting comes in. The right few strokes of the brush create that evocative look that is usually lost from concept art to sculpt. Oh,. thank god. The sculpt fixed the hip and broken wrist.... Lookin' good, I'm glad I already planned on getting two. :) ETA: The knees look amazing. Seriously. Good job. Agreed. the face is good, but has lost a bit of personality from the art and the hair ornaments are way too chunky, I realise this may be due to casting limitations, but if that's the case I'd have suggested loosing them. See above, on my thoughts on the face. I plan on using an exacto knife, or green stuff, or both to make the head ornament a little more pronounced (per the concept art). I also plan to put a rock formation behind her left foot so it looks more like she's resting her hand on her knee, instead of just touching it as though she's rubbing a boo boo. "That Guy"
This model is what I am starting on first thing in the morning. You should see a painted version within a couple of days. I personally don't think the pose is unrealistic at all. In both D&D and Pathfinder, half of the cloud giants are good and wouldn't want to be a screaming marauder. Besides, when you are 18-20 feet tall, you too would have to bend down to speak to those tiny adventurers.
cthulhu
I'm disappointed in this miniature. It's such a great sculpt, and I can't think of any board game (that I have) to use it with. Gonna have to come up with something for Descent.
cthulhudarren
I think the mini looks pretty good! But I also want hill giant bones!
Heisler
I'm disappointed in this miniature. It's such a great sculpt, and I can't think of any board game (that I have) to use it with. Gonna have to come up with something for Descent. So you are not disappointed with the way it came out, just that its not usable with the games you have right?
