Reaperbryan
I'm beginning to think that this thread has served its purpose. People expressed their opinions and are now politicizing and attacking. We've had to moderate this thread more heavily than almost any other thread until now, and If we have to come in again, we'll lock it. No personal attacks, no political rants. Express your opinion in a way that does not insult other posters. Frankly, if you want to rant, PM me and rant at me all day.
Artists Wren Posted September 12, 2012 Artists Share Posted September 12, 2012 Don't worry about me any further on this, Bryan. My concern was that an off-hand remark might unfairly prejudice people against even looking at what I think is an interesting game. I think it has been elaborated on enough that this is unlikely to happen, so I'm good.
buglips*the*goblin
Buglips you crack me up. I just wish I could figure out what they feed you in the mornings! For the past 17 years I've subsisted on a diet almost entirely composed of ramen, coffee, and cigarettes. With the occassional pack of twinkies to make it a proper nutritional pyramid. Nobody can last very long without adequate amounts of essential polysorbate 60 and yellow #5, after all. Gots to keep fit and healthy.
Doug Sundseth
There's a persistent problem in the industry when producing new games that designers will talk too much to their buddies who are also designers and industry people. And the tastes of people in the industry skew significantly from those of the general market. There's no need to get into politically charged issues for examples, either. For example, Space 1889 (GDW) was beloved by game industry people and widely anticipated by insiders. But it largely flopped elsewhere. (Many copies of that game were traded at conventions.) See also, Castle Falkenstein. FWIW, I loved both, but then I was in the industry too.
Ringskipper
If all the giants were posed that way, I'd have problems. But since we have two really badass-looking female giants (Frost and Flame), one slightly more seductive one doesn't hurt.
Niranth
The discussion on the cloud giant really surprises me. I have seen much more "exposure" at the local swimming pool or even the park. When I look at the sculpt, I see her next step is to either get to her knees to establish trust with a much smaller equal (or child) or standing up dismissively. Using this as a guide: http://www.d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/monster-listings/humanoids/giants/giant-true/giant-cloud I do not see how she could be dressed differently unless she wore something other than plate and lost that magnificent club. Gailbraithe
The cloud giant is a great sculpt for a chaotic good giant. She appears friendly and a bit mischievous -- if a DM puts her down on the table players aren't going to assume "incoming combat encounter!" Sneak attack! *WHAM!* Player: "Ow, why did you really hit me?" Me: "Element of surprise, ha ha! Ninja vanish!" Player: "You're still here, you just sorta waved your hands in front of your face." Me: "Shut up and look at the giant."

Frankthedm
We've had to moderate this thread more heavily than almost any other thread until now, and If we have to come in again, we'll lock it.Which is patently unfair to those who have behaved properly. How is it better to lock a thread than to hand out bans to those who deserve a vacation from the board? Locking threads just rewards those who intentionally misbehave with the goal of locking a thread.

And my industry ties are both archaic and nebulous. I would say that Blue Rose was more aimed at Mercedes Lackey and Anne McCafferey than feminists in general - reaching out to a potential untapped audience. And it did bring in at least one new player - who has been in my games ever since, be it Spycraft 2.0, Pathfinder, or Call of Cthulhu. (She managed to talk me into running a Gargoyles Spycraft campaign set in the 1880s... and sometime again I will return to it - a fun campaign.) The Auld Grump, she has a poster from the last Gathering of the Gargoyles on her wall, signed by two actors from ST:tNG....

This is about being orderly and respectful. And locking the thread isn't "unfair" to you, because your comments still exist. Unfair would be deleting thread, or non-offending comments. And you know darn well I hate to hand out lifetime bans because of one touchy thread. As much as you and I butt heads, you should be the last person asking me to perma-ban people that bug me. Frankthedm
As much as you and I butt heads, We do? You still mad about that monitor? I'm sure you've had to moderate some of my posts when I get caustic, but prior to the Kickstarter I don't remember that much conflict with you, and I've done some searching trying to find any quote wars we've had.
