buglips*the*goblin
but then there are a lot of things I don't understand about people. I once knew somebody who thought D&D was the evil tool of the devil, but they loved Lord of the Rings. Even after I was compelled to explain they're essentially the same thing, their opinion went unchanged. So if you pretend you're Frodo, you're good. Pretend you're a 2nd Edition halfling with a ring of invisibility he must destroy so an evil semi-demonic insubstantial wizard's giant eye can't get it and you're going straight to hell. Mind you, this was also a girl who thought "emasculation" actually meant "to make manly", and thusly became quite confused at the response provoked when she said she intended to emasculate her son. (I, however, remain amused at that to this day)
The Inner Geek
but then there are a lot of things I don't understand about people. I once knew somebody who thought D&D was the evil tool of the devil, but they loved Lord of the Rings. Ah, the old "tool of the devel" line. Going to High School in a small town in Kansas, everyone knew your business. My friends and I played a lot of 2nd edition D&D. One of the police officers in town found out and called our parents to "warn" them. Really. My mother just hung up on him, my friends mom laughed in his face. At one point he went as far as to start telling people that I'd try to commit suicide after being in a minor accident (because D&D made me do it)... so I started telling people he did drugs and cheated on his wife. Twenty years later I've still not been killed by RPG's and he's been divorced for eighteen years. Does that make me chaotic neutral?
Brother Jim
Or were you just subconsciously aware of what was actually going on ??
psyberwolfe1
This is what I get for checking out of a thread. I really am trying to understand why so many pages being pissy. They're Toy Soldiers. Seriously get over it. They are figures that spark our imagination. Don't like them? Don't buy them. I for one welcome my cloud giant mistress and her saucy come hither look.

ced1106
But we have done some tests. Conversions on the same figure, and released under different part numbers and names have shown that an immodest figure will outsell a more modest version of the same exact figure. A topless version will sell a LOT more, and full nudity will sell even more. Oh, so THAT'S why women prefer mouslings. Duly noted. :D Churchlady paints miniatures wearing NO pants. smokingwreckage
The enlightening thing here is that, contrary to the imaginings of the control-oriented, Reaper is not a mindless slave to market forces, spewing out miniature porn because it sells. And, Reaper is not being held in check by the combined might of the moral crusaders. Reaper is checked by their own standards. I can see two major philosophies that are partially invalidated by this observation: "Without My Nosiness the World Would Go To Hell", and "Markets Transform You Into a Mindless Amoral Money-Zombie". One from the right, one from the left! Reaper the centrist!

I don't think you can fix the kind of silly that thinks D&D = evil, LotR = cool, but THIS seems like all you need to solve is a dictionary! Friends of a friend of ours have a big thing against Harry Potter, but not fantasy in general. It's a bit aggravating because while they are very Christian, they're also well-educated and not knee-jerk in general, but I think their church went on about it a lot. Though in a way maybe HP is a little subversive on the subject of religion because it's so completely absent other than the word Christmas. Slendertroll
I think this topics been pretty well beaten to death, but I'll throw in my two cents anyway: I'm fine with sexy lady minis, as long as there are also well-clothed and -armored ones. Furthermore, I would like more sexy dude minis, for added balance. ;) (And no, impossibly-muscled barbarian hulks don't count.)
