buglips*the*goblin
I saw your recent update, TaleSpinner. I too am surprised at the rather tepid activity on the Ogre WIP thread. I guess people are just busy, or perhaps forgot the date. Hopefully we'll see more action soon.
recruittons
If it helps, my girlfriend ALSO did an ogre, she just wanted me to wait on posting her WIP pictures, since she is a bit shy about her painting.
Arachne
Hi! I'm not dead, I promise. I'm leaving to go camping around 4 am. I'm going to bed, soon, and will start when I get home. The past two weeks have been epic insanity. Houseguests, fall stuff, outdoors, new video games. I'll jump in and start posting Monday. Miss you guys! JackMann
I've started on mine, but I don't really have enough to post yet. Had a busy evening.
Kay
I can't guarantee that I'll get started before October. Things are really ramping up for the camping event I'm in charge of that's happening next weekend at Grandfather Mountain. We have 807 people coming- wheee!!!! I can show you my tent WIP, my clothes hanger WIP, my dish washing station WIP, and my water/hand washing station WIP if anyone is interested. Silly me- thought it would be easy to design and build a 15"x8" shelter from scratch. I'm actually taking a break from trying to get everyone organized as I type this- my eyes started getting buggy from the 200 page printout- and it's not even the whole report. I love what I'm doing- don't get me wrong- but I would rather be painting right now. If we get the chance to paint over the next week I'll post, but I really don't think it's going to happen until after this event is over. buglips*the*goblin
Lot of camping going on! Glad to see you're not dead, Arachne! The WIP has no time limit, so join in whenever it's handy. If my Ogres are lost in transit it'll be a couple of weeks before I can start anyway. siliconjedi
I'll probably be posting a small update daily, the next one won't look like an ogre statue standing on a chocolate cookie, I swear.

JackMann
Also, just gonna throw this out here, three parts Tanned Skin with one part Carnage Red does a decent orangish skin. He even looks a little... tangerinish.
siliconjedi
I've always had good luck with making off skin tones by blending humanish flesh tones with brighter volors. I think my orc recipe was 2 drops Tanned Skin, 1 drop Leaf Green.
Pole
I plan on starting up my Ogre this weekend. I will post a few pictures on Saturday. Great to see all this participation! I can't wait to join in.

He even looks a little... tangerinish. Tangerine is a big color for monsters this fall. I was at this Monster Manual Fashion Show in Paris back in June, you see, so I got in on the trend early. And remember, it never hurts to do yourself up for when adventurers come knocking. If you're going to die in a cave as an xp token, you can at least die pretty. Pingo
I started mine. It's just that taking pictures and posting took a little time what with household responsibilities and all.
Pingo
The thing on the front of the shield is a wooly mammoth. I'm assuming it is raise int he metal of the shield. For the shoulder, I'm going with ritual scarring. I looked close and you're right -- it is a woolly mammoth, looking to the left. Its detail is a little soft and rounded compared to the rest of the ogre (Are the metal ogres sharper? I'm painting mine along with some metal minis and the level of detail on the ogre seems less somehow). I think I'm going to paint it like a luridly-painted shield, orange and black and white or something.
