lstormhammer
Hey, folks. Sorry if this was answered elseforum, just came to mind as I was standing in the LGS. In regards to shipping the KS backers their copies of the minis from all the levels, are those going to be thrown into a box and sent, or packaged up with a blister ack and sent out? I would think it easier to 'dump them in a box, slap a stamp on the box'. Less materal needed, etc. I mean, the plastic models are very durable, so why the heck not? I'm not going to turn my nose up if a box of unpackaged plastic arrived at my doorstep... All apologies for typing and grammar errors, I'm literally standing in the LGS getting a weird look from the store owner banging this idea out on an old 'Smart' (senile, at this point) phone... --LSH
dispatchdave
Vampire levels will get mini's in bags. The Retail level (whatever it was called, $300) will be sent out in blister packs.
buglips*the*goblin
Reaper hasn't specified. Either way, somebody will complain. Either because they use unnecessary packaging by putting them in blisters and creating waste, or because Reaper doesn't blister them and they wanted them blistered for easy storage. For my part, I'll just be happy so long as they aren't eaten by the horrible monster that dwells deep within the Cave Of Customs.
Galahad@Heresy-Online
In the podcast interview (look around, you;ll find it) Bryan said that they'll most likely be bagged just because it's cheaper and easier to ship that way and isn't generating tons and tons of blister pack garbage when this stuff gets opened. Undertakers receiving retail racks and signage would, naturally, get retail packaging of some sort (though this may just be a poly bag stapled to a card with name and barcode)
buglips*the*goblin
Ah, I missed that. I didn't listen to the whole thing. Makes sense, anyway, and it's a lot of stuff to run through the blisterizer. Sorting loose minis is a lot easier than sorting blisters when you're checking to make sure it's all there. Reaper's good, very good, but mistakes can happen and they'll be BUSY!
Foxden Racing
I should've listened to that podcast. Me, I'll be happy as long as they're protected from dust until I get to them and as long as UPS or whoever's doing the shipping doesn't decide to do some 'durability testing'. Heisler
I would hazard to guess that the retailer option (undertaker) would be blister carded. Reaper does have a reputation to maintain in the retail market.
buglips*the*goblin
Customs, man. Customs are the killer. I picture some big, slope-browed gronk with a unibrow getting my package and then opening it for inspection with his hilariously oversized hair-knuckled hands. Then, as he peers into the box, furrowing his meaty forehead in his quest for contraband, he discovers I have ordered something small and fragile. He then gingerly extracts the item, grins savagely, and mashes it between his hamhock palms with sadistic glee. His work finished, he puts it back in the box and sends it on its way with a mighty football kick. I hope Bones, with their awesome indestructible powers, frustrate him into a blind, white-hot fury that even The Hulk would find a little too much. The Inner Geek
Customs, man. Customs are the killer. Are the minis shipping direct from China to backers? I was under the impression that they were coming to the US in bulk, probably on a... wait for it... slow boat from China, then they would be sorted and packaged by the peerless and notably not-slope-browed denizens of Reaper. I agree that blister packs would be a waste of time and resources, but I'm also picturing scenes across the world as folks dive into their bones boxes looking for "that one" mini they were most excited about. It's in there... somewhere... maybe in an orcs armpit... maybe stuck suggestively to the Storm Giantess' leg.
Galahad@Heresy-Online
for American shipments our minis will arrive wrapped in 24k gold foil packets, using marshmallows for packing peanuts. Delivery men will be instructed to hug recipients and thank them for their support. Canadian and other international shipments get the treatment outlined above by buglips.
dwarvenranger
Me and Greg, the normal postal guy, are cool. But if he tries to hug me we're going to have a problem.
The Inner Geek
The goblin lives in canuck land. I would have expected more eh, eh? for American shipments our minis will arrive wrapped in 24k gold foil packets, using marshmallows for packing peanuts. Ok, so I'm a multifaceted geek. I also am a backer of a indie video game named Castle Story. They did not do stretch goals and had a reasonable justification not to. But then at the very end, they announced the Hug Stretch Goal. This, no stuff, is a reward in which you may receive a hug if you see one of the devs in real life and state that you are a backer. Really. They better hope I never see them in public, I'll bear-hug my monies worth out of them.
Pole
I'm just glad these are are coming UPS. The USPS lady had a fit when she found out I ordered 50lbs of plaster.... She doesn't like me any more. The UPS guy on the other hand knows me by name!
Galahad@Heresy-Online
I order so much stuff online that the UPS trucks drive past my house twice daily as part of their normal route, just in case I needed something from Amazon between breakfast and lunch. My main UPS guy still thanks me for turning him on to thinkgeek for gift ideas for his nerdy kid.
