Bombshell Miniatures Kickstarter

Recommended Posts

Oh man, if there's a BB sponsor I'll have to finish Shanna's basing. Between that, Ebonwrath and xmas presents I guess I know what I'd be doing until Reapercon 2014...

I'll be honest I'll pass on the game, I already have 2 dedicated sci-fi games from KS (and existing 40k stuff) plus access to rules systems that will support any setting/genre.

But what about the minis? Those might be nice! Actually, I'd be surprised if they weren't.

*looks at all the Sedition Wars, Bones, and Bombshell Babes he already has*

Absolutely they'll be nice, but that said the concept art for the game isn't grabbing me a whole lot either. I have no doubt about the quality of the product, its just sadly not for me.

*excuse me while I go paint these 3 BdE Robots*

I'm also getting to the picky end of the spectrum, but I do find the concept appealing and look forward to what Patrick does with it.

Another upcoming kickstarter from Patrick and Bombshell.

---

NEWS

September is a busy month for the Bombshell Factory. We are working behind the scenes on lots of new things, one of which is the launch of our upcoming Kickstarter project to fund production of the ISW-69F Scout Ship. This will be an Epic Models release although it will be completely suitable, and have a future stat sheet, for use in the COUNTERBLAST Adventure Battle Game as well as the RPG.

The ISW-66F will be a multi-part kit cast in resin for easy assembly. It has been modeled in ZBrush and it is being finalized for printing. The kit will include several accessories and upgrade packs that will be offered through the Kickstarter project as well as an exclusive set of crew figures.

---

Renders of the spacecraft can be seen in the article I've linked to below.

Have to admit I'm not sure of the scale, as at 28mm to house the mentioned crew it would have to be pretty sizeable. At a smaller scale though I don't know how interested I'd be as I don't play spaceship battle games.

Given the subject matter, I don't think a 28mm scale ship would have to be enormous.

It's an homage to the sci-fi of the 40's and 50's where the rocket ships didn't really have room anything other than crew and passengers. No mechanical bits, no fuel, no engines (except what was on the outside), etc. Like this:

I think it'll be fun and I expect I'll be in on this one.

I think the KS for the game, next year, and and the KS for the spaceship mini, next month, are two different KS's covering the same IP.

So now I'm looking at 4 kickstarter must haves for me that will be overlapping.

Yep. Things aren't looking good for me to continue backing RAFMs Airship pirates KS.

Don't have much interest in the rocket ship, even if it is very cool.

I could very easily be persuaded to pick up a set of 50's style Space Adventurers though.

Some knowledge I took away from 'kitchen-con' a couple weeks ago...

There will be two KS as mentioned above. The first is a retro scout ship and crew. I think the crew may be obtained through stretch goals, but don't quote me on that. While it was not talked about directly, I would guess that the crew would be usable in the upcoming game via included rules or downloadable rules.

The ship will not be overly large which makes it fit on the table better and will keep the cost reasonable. Remember the Rhino never really fit 10 armored minis in it (unless you put them through a blender first and poured them in). It should be big enough to look right though. 4.5 to 5 inches long if I were guessing. If you follow SamuraiJack's link above you can see the prototype ship used for playtesting. It's reasonably indicative of the size that the fully designed ship will be though the final will be much more detailed with extra awesome crammed in.

The second KS will be early next year once the art and development process for the game are further along. Brett is working hard on the game design and Patrick is contacting artists to line up art. A lot of the details on this one are still in flux, but it will be a tabletop skirmish game. The Counterblast Preview PDF is available for download from the Airlock Games website. It's a technically a $0 purchase.

      Andowyn Thrushmoor!
It's been awhile since I've painted a plain ol' character miniature. I spent the better part of today working on her and I’m overall pleased with how she came out. I really want to double my skill level by the time Bones V is delivered and I’m proud of my progress! Slowly but surely figuring out how to do faces, this one looks pretty okay, though her right eye is funky.

Since this is my first form post, the picture is her next to my first miniature! It's about four years old and I keep it around the rest of my collection in a place of honor

If anybody here loves cavern terrain and missed DF's first cavern KS KS2, this spring/summer around June DF will have KS6. The theme of KS6 will be Return to the Caverns and should be great fun for those who took part in KS2 or those who are new to DF.

DF had this to say and showed the below teaser pics

We're doing for Caverns what Dungeon of Doom did for Dungeons. A whole new batch of fun pieces to enhance your existing collection, but also completely stand-alone.

      Some of the key features:
New Core Shapes (diagonal wall, convex curves, 1" pieces, etc)
      Passages
Elevation (with stuff that's impossible on graph paper...)
Negative Space pieces (and new Terrain Trays)
      Flashy Pieces (Magnets & LEDs)
      Large pieces (4x4 and larger)

This looks like a very interesting board game with lots of new, fresh ideas and cool artwork (and nice minis - there is even a pledge level for just the minis: around 15 of them for $20 plus shipping):

      About this project

There is always more to unlock and explore in the world of Gloomhaven.

If you missed the first Gloomhaven Kickstarter (and retail sold out quickly) here is your chance. I backed that game the first time around and could not be happier with the results. Warning ... that box is heavy ...
