psyberwolfe1
Ok so I agree with a lot said here but being a Pargon Tier painter I will say Brushes matter more than your paint. I've used every type of paint under the sun. Now MSP and Vallejo are fine paints and I use them most of all, but craft paints are perfectly fine. They have limitations and as long as you know that you'll be fine. If you live in the US Michael's is having a craft paint sale and you can get a decent set fairly cheap. Having said that if you can dig up $36 for the paint set 1 and 3 from the KS do it. Also you can add the money on eventhough you made the pledge you did so you're not sacraficing a thing. drm
As someone getting back into painting minis after a 25+ year lapse (thanks to the Bones KS) - I found the Reaper "Learning to Paint" kits awesome for getting a collection of paints, brushes, and minis to get started on while I wait for my Vampire shipment in March or so. There's a lot of paints included for the $25 or so, and it seems like an overall good deal. It would be awesome if Reaper did some big sales on bulk paints in March, since there will probably be a few million minis out there in need of painting. Ampersandrew
It would be awesome if Reaper did some big sales on bulk paints in March, since there will probably be a few million minis out there in need of painting. With 4 different paint sets in the kickstarter, I'd say Reaper already has this more than covered. At 12 bottles for $18 (12 quid to you guvnor) you're practically stealing it. ced1106
My two bits: * At Walmart, I picked up a cheap synthetic brush set for miniatures. The tips wore out, but at least I got an idea of what brushes there were for mini's before settling on sables. * At Michaels, you can get sorta good sable brushes and sable brush kits. Cheap with a 40% off coupon. * At Michaels, buy brush soap and flow aid. Cheap with a 40% off coupon. * Craft paints work fine for non-detailed work. I painted a tower and some miniatures bases with craft paints. * Recycle something as an eye dropper. Very useful for adding water to paints. If you add too much water, good. You get to learn layering and washes! * Recycle your clear blister packs as palettes. * DON'T skimp on flesh tones! Faces are the most important part of the miniature. Any suggestions on which Reaper Learn to Paint Kit to buy for this? I see two kits that are for skin.
