Low Life Miniatures

Seems kinda crap he'd do Midgard stuff before low life since that, in theory, signed first.

I believe that it depends on a lot of variables:

Are the sculptors delivering on time? If not, why? Would it be worthwhile to see if another sculptor could get them done sooner?

Have some of the greens for Low Life had to be returned for improvements/changes? Have any of the greens gone missing while being shipped?

Low Life has a lot more miniatures than Midgard, so will take longer to get them all scupted.

So, if there are delays with Low Life, why should Midgard suffer because of issues with another project?

Doesn't it make sense rather than see people and resources remain idle because the first project has had some delays, he puts them on another project while waiting? Especially if it is a project that is currently on time and may be delivered on schedule (but not if EFS waits for the Low Life issues to be worked out and people remain idle)?

Better communication would help for the Dwarves and Low Life kickstarters. So far, EFS has kept to the communication plan for Midgard.

I should have been more clear....by "he" I meant the sculptor that is working on both Midgard and is listed on LowLife....and of course, I realize that this particular sculptor may have completed the pieces he was contracted for. I guess I just want to know whats the hold up.

Aaand now I'm cautiously excited again. These are such bizarrely cool minis.

I wish people would realize that not everyone is on facebook.

I think more people are on Facebook than are on just about any other mode of communication they might reasonably use.

In the comments section Mick has written a 'sort of apology' for lack of comms and defended EFS. It sounds like we'll get something similar in an update later today (plus new photos).

As much as I want to let things go I'm struggling to accept some of Mick's arguments. He isn't familiar with mini's production but isn't that the reason for taking on EFS, who are. And even though EFS have the expertise the Dwarf Gladiators project has had the same issues as Low Life, which I suspect is not a coincidence.

I understand many people are on facebook. Many people are not and we've given them a channel to contact us.

But beyond that, since Mick technically can't push an update for Low Life....he has a website. I was going to link it to show how woefully neglected it was (the last "news" was the announcement of the Low Life kickstarter). But I won't because now it's infested with malware.

Everyone online has the Internet and a browser. Websites are the preferred method for releasing information, you can feed it from facebook. But it needs to be freely accessible on a company-run site, not on a private social network.

Or not, it's not my business and I can certainly take my money elsewhere if someone doesn't want to take the time to be professional.

I've made my final comments in the Low Life comments section and now i'm just going to wait and see.

I agree with CW, Facebook is not the right way to release project updates, kickstarter has a function specifically for that which will reach all backers.

I'm not sure why Mick's "next week" turned into three months, but I'm sure he can explain if we give him a chance.

and so you know the comms with me and him have always been spot on.

This is the kind of stuff that keeps pegging my BS meter (which has a very strong track record).

edit: also, no explanation was forthcoming. Just the pic of the minis.

Just back from a trip to New York city (apparently it never sleeps - but all the bars I found close at 2am). While I was there I asked Andy Hopp to send the bulk of my kickstarter rewards to the hotel I was staying in. Andy kindly hopped to it and the minis arrived, and this morning I managed to smuggle them past the British Customs Gestapo without so much as a suspicious glance. Huzzah.

Of the 10 different types of mini I have (this is just the first wave), I love 3 of them, like 6 of them and 1 is a little bit 'meh', but overall I'm very pleased, and forced to eat one portion of humble pie for earlier doubts.

Sounds great Beagle. I'm sitting here, spoon in hand, with a big serving of such pie in front of me as the Dwarf Gladiators really seem to be coming around and I sent in my survey on that project the other day. No minis in hand yet of course, but it's looking better and I'm preparing to man up and dig into that pie.

Yep, that'll be my second helping.

I like to think that our endless griping and cynicism were key drivers in getting these projects delivered. So well done Troddy old pal

Some updates from KS comments:

Creator Andy Hopp 1 day ago

The next batch will go to the foundry very soon. I'm waiting on one in particular (Ubb Gubertinct), since he's part of the original 15. As soon as we get him from Jason we'll be ready to cast the next batch.

On when the rest of the minis will deliver:

Creator Andy Hopp about 6 hours ago

I am really hoping it will be by the end of this year. The only thing slowing us down is that the sculpts are taking much longer (muuuuuuuuch longer) than promised. If they continue in the same trend they are now I will take measures to make sure the project doesn't go on for another year. I really love the work our sculptors are doing, but I share your frustrations and I'm just as concerned about the time frame as you are (probably even more so).

Tomorrow is the one year anniversary of the start of the Low Life Kickstarter. As things currently stand 10 of 56 miniatures have been released.

If we continue at the current pace all minis will have been delivered by March 2018. We should be on Bones VI by then
