I'm pretty happy with the sculpt. While the filigree from the concept would have been awesome to add. Keeping the shield bare allows for customization via paint or decals. I would have loved to see the tail a little thinner but it probably would make the tail too fragile. I intend to slice the tail by section and use some bent wire/rod to give it more shape.

Wyrmgear was an awesome name.

If he gets made in metal, I will fashion him a nameplate.

WYRMGEAR

McNODD & SONS

STEAMWORKS

B. 1897

Is that Noddy McNodd of the Bristol McNodds?! I haven't spoken to him in a donkey's age!

Nay, Roddy McNodd of the Northumberland McNodds. Related to Old Missus Kendrick out of Madeupinghamshire.

Ah, the black sheep branch of the McNodds, thanks to the infamous custard incident. Persona Non Grata. And that's all I'll say on that score.

I like the idea of being able to customize the shields. Also the wings- I was thinking a sketch of the da vinci flying machine on one. Maybe arcane formula to power the dragon. That bookend idea is looking even better.

I'd love to see another angle on the Lizard Man Warrior. I'm hoping that shield is a turttle shell; the edges hint at it. :)

It is indeed a turtle shell.

'Turtle shell shields' are a proud tradition going back to Ral Partha's lizard men back in 197-something. I'm thinking 7 or 8 goes there. But I was a tiny boy then. And there was lead in minis then so I have a poor memory of that time now.

I'm pretty curious how people will be painting the dragon. I'd like to know How do you add a canvas or similar effect to the wings?

As for steampunk parts, I hear applying a hammer to a pre-digital age watch (sans glass) works very well... :D

I'm (probably) not painting the Bones one, but if it makes it into metal I'd do the primary colour in a bronze/copper (Reaper's old pro paint copper makes a lovely bronze) with different smaller bits done in degrees of steel, and possibly a little gold trim. For the wings, I'd paint them like I'd do sailing ship sails - so probably khaki and some oiled leather/light brown washes and then highlighted with linen white.

I'd probably do it in such a way that it appeared to be scavenged, so possibly I'd paint patches or seams, or maybe even partial logos to represent sails sewn together.

I had one of those, or was it a Grenadier? I know the one surviving vintage lizardman I have is grenadier.
