Dan Goodchild
I have three Ral Partha lizard men with the turtle shell shields. They were among my best paint jobs from that era and I'm still fond of them. That's why I was pleased to learn that the tradition continues. :-)
Corporea
Hey, is anybody painting Vernaclox? I'd love to see him in slightly tarnished metallics... That and how is the Nerthyrmaul sculpt coming along? so excited!!
burnsides
If you really want to torment some people, just say the RPM should be ready by tomorrow morning. Then at 8 AM, tell them it needs more stress testing but should be ready tomorrow... x] He wants to torment people, not whip them into a murderous frenzy. Doing things such as you suggest is all fun and games until the fans converge in Denton with pitchforks and torches screaming for Bryan's head. I'm sure the crowd could be talked down to a maximum of an Applebee's gift certificate and a couple of toes.
mvincent
I'm pretty curious how people will be painting the dragon. Spraypaint black. Drybrush brass.(i.e. same way I steampunkify Maverick nerf guns)
Girot
I plan on researching older clock design to find out what parts are made out of what and apply that theory to how I paint the visible gears and insides. The armored components will likey start off as a dark steel and then get 'laquered' or something along those lines. If not that I'll have the exo regions 'painted' with a lot of heavy chipping/scratching/burns/etc.
Orlando_the_Technicoloured
Brass was pretty much the go to material for old clocks and other toothed wheel designs (right back to ancient greece with the Antikathyra Mechanism), hard enough to stand up to wear and tear, soft enough to cut/file to shape (using iron or steel tools) Even today cutting a shape is preferable to casting a metal part. the only stuff that really went with cast cog/gears is large scale stuff like locomotives etc, but that really needs a major industrial base
Girot
Brass it is!
TheAuldGrump
Also, brass is much more corrosion resistant. I am planning on using some bronze/brass, some iron, and lots of Scorched Metal. I picture the bulk of the thing covered with linseed oil then heated, baking the layer on. The Auld Grump

Argentee
Try freehanding the designs. Then have 'damage' to all the parts that don't look the way you want. ;)
Girot
I could manage a freehanding of some kind but the question is: of what?
Last Knight
I could manage a freehanding of some kind but the question is: of what? Gears. Binary patterns. The yellow sign.
