Caffiene
the sculptor nailed all the main aspects of C'thulhu that were important to me - small wings, flabby, huge, creepy looking. Agree with this. I can see differences, but personally I feel like it captures the feel of the art. My thought now is the pledge manager still seems to be open... I wonder how inconvenient it would be if I messaged Kit at this late stage and got a reset so I can add in a Cthulhu
Slendertroll
I first saw the Cthulhu picture on my phone and was just a little disappointed. Then I looked at it on my PC and the disappointment evaporated. I'd like to see pictures from different angles and one picture of it unassembled. I debated on whether to add one and I am now glad that I did! I'll second this. I think a lot of the complaints people have would be resolved by seeing it from a different angle or a higher-quality photo.
Adrift
I think if I had seen more finished sculpts during the KS, or during the open pledge manager time my wallet would have been in serious trouble.
Girot
I downloaded the pic and zoomed in and am quite satisfied.

I really hope that it is a WiP. The Auld Grump
hairrorist
Here's hoping. :( Its frustrating that he's so close to being a truly vile masterwork.
ObsidianCrane
I'm in the "love it" camp. That seam looks like a spot where 65095: Eldritch Demon is birthed forth into the world to spread further terror and destruction!

TheAuldGrump
Ah well, those of us that are disappointed have let our feeling be known, either it will be adjusted or it will not.... So, I will close most of my comments on the brute with something positive - I do like the way the head is coming out. The tentacles are a nice writhing mass. Aside from the skin texture there is not much to say is bad, adding detail in green stuff will be a nuisance, but I have seen much worse. The smooth skinned 'Thulhu will be easier to cast, I suppose. What of the new Bones figures still need to be shown? Some Heroes, and a Pirate, I think? The Auld Grump and the two undead dragons, of course.... buglips*the*goblin
I wouldn't change a thing about the C'Thulhu. It literally made me exclaim "sweet jesus" out loud. In a quiet ICU, that exclamation carries.... Meanwhile, one of the patients counts their blessings that they don't have whatever the person who made you say that out loud has. Nobody wants a case of the C'thulhus. Except Frankthedm, who has actually ordered a case of C'thulhus.
ced1106
Ah well, those of us that are disappointed have let our feeling be known, either it will be adjusted or it will not.... Assuming that the Clockwork and Cthulhu photos really do accurately depict the model, let's hope so. Remember, these models weren't made for the KS backers. These models are intended to sell to the general public -- at far more than KS prices. If *we* don't particularly like these models, then neither will other hobbyists. Then these models won't sell, and the money spent on their expensive molds will have been wasted. One thing miniatures painting has told me is that you don't take shortcuts of the early stages of modelling. It's really important that these expensive models look good. Because, unlike metal miniatures, you can't re-melt plastic.

buglips*the*goblin
That's an important point. I'm completely ambivalent about C'thulhu. I would be ambivalent whether he was super awesome or not. If he hadn't been on the kickstarter and just appeared in the store, it's unlikely I'd ever go after him. He's in my KS pile because I just couldn't pick and choose and decided to get all the add-ons. I'm pleased he's big, but that's all the requirement I really had.

Well, there've been just as many people, give or take, that like both those sculpts, and the people on these boards definitely don't represent a statistically significant sampling of all miniature collectors. I'm not sure there's sufficient evidence that these are more disliked than any other figures.
The Inner Geek
Why doesn't he have a bow? I wanted a c'thulhu with a bow! Seriously, I saw this when it was being worked on. It was far less finished than this and I'd have given buglips last stanky shoe for it right there on the spot. I think in person it has a lot of charisma that the picture isn't capturing. And if the way it looks make you mad... well that's c'thulhu, baby!
