From my count the Big C has more supporters than trolls

False dichotomy. Expressing disappointment with a piece that is already paid for is not inherently trolling. Nor is support inherently different from trolling, as witness this post.

(Note that I wouldn't have bought one of these regardless of how it was sculpted, though in fact I think it's a fairly interesting sculpt. I care not for anything Lovecraftian.)

My thought now is the pledge manager still seems to be open... I wonder how inconvenient it would be if I messaged Kit at this late stage and got a reset so I can add in a Cthulhu ^_^

Wouldn't hurt. Resetting the RPM is in Reaper's best interest, because it's another opportunity for you to INCREASE your pledge!

I'm pretty much reading more complaints about Cthulhu's torso than praises. When the Gandwarf and lizardmen previews came out, reaction was almost entirely positive, while the Clockwork Dragon was not. It's entirely possible that the size of the miniature or how they're presenting the large figure affects audience reaction. For me personally, I'm waiting to see how people paint this figure.

More importantly, does anyone have pattern for a suit I can put on this thing? I wanna dress him up like this:

However, now, according to you, anyone that voices their disappointment with a sculpt is a troll? That's just sad, and I'll leave it at that...

There were two very different things you quoted there. The first was my post that dispatchdave nicely surmised. Girot then stated that there seemed to be more supporters than trolls. I guess you could infer that he means people who are posting that C'thulhu needs to be changed are trolls, but that doesn't necessarily mean that not liking it (or voicing your opinion that you are disappointed in it) makes you a troll. YMMV, I guess.

It was indeed Girot's portion I was responding to, I just hit quote on his post. His portion did strike my as snarky.

I first saw the Cthulhu picture on my phone and was just a little disappointed. Then I looked at it on my PC and the disappointment evaporated. I'd like to see pictures from different angles and one picture of it unassembled. I debated on whether to add one and I am now glad that I did!

I'll second this. I think a lot of the complaints people have would be resolved by seeing it from a different angle or a higher-quality photo.

We shot it from multiple angles, trying to find the best one - sometimes when a model goes out in all directions like this it can be hard to find the perfect angle.

I'll pester Ron to get alternative shots up.

Nooo! Then they'll notice his big butt and cankles.

As far as ideas for sprucing up some sculpted detail, this article has a bunch of stuff that would look great on this mini.

edited to add: I was talking about Cthulhu's butt, not Ron's. I think, I mean, I've never met Ron, so well, anyway I was just talking about Cthulhu there. He's been a bit busy enslaving humanity to get to the gym much this aeon. It's been strange.

Oh, come on. I think that was pretty clearly just a poor choice of words. The intent was clear; would you have preferred it if he had used the word "detractors"?

Thanks! I didn't mean to imply that this shot was poorly chosen, but like you said, it's such a vast sculpt that any one view won't really capture it fully.

Yeah, I'd really like a few more angles if its not too much of a bother. I suspect that I will be breaking out the green stuff on arrival, but I sure would like to see another picture of him beforehand! I hope it goes without saying that regardless of whether or not I am 100% in love with every model, that this KS is an epic bargain, packed to the gills with awesome models. I can't wait until I am sitting on my porch, smoking a pipe, bouncing a grandbaby on my knee while coughing out "baaaaaack in mah day sonny, we c'buy minis for a dollar apiece!"

The Auld Grump, nI wish the Sota toys 'Thulhu were still available, to show as a comparison....

In my opinion though that's a horrible version of Cthulu, I'd have been very dissapointed in a model that looked like that. I think it's mostly the 'hair' tentacles and feet.

I posted it mostly because of the skin texture - tentacle feet are not my favorite, and I would be tempted to do him up as Rasta 'Thulhu with those tentacle dreads.

But the skin is a good texture, and the material is close enough to the PVC used by Reaper to show that it can be done.

In his house in Rleyh, dread Thulhu waits dreamin, mon.

Agreed. If you want to pull a cool "toy" cthulhu, you have to go to the Horror Clix one. Now that is a nice cthulhu...

I actually like the Sota toy better than that, without liking the Sota toy all that much.... But I do like it better than what I see of the Reaper one.

If I can, then I think that I will send a message to drop the Cthulhu in favor of something that I like better - that model just does not do it for me, not at all. ::(:

Is there a way to do so? The more I look at this 'Thulhu, the less that I like it, especially since that same money could have gone for another Kaladrax.
