I may have to simply sell mine and wait for the metal version, and hope it doesn't have "filler ribs".

You do realize there is already a "metal version" and that this version was made because the metal one didn't translate well into PVC.

What about painting the filler spaces with a glowing color (red or neon green) to make it look like there's an unholy light animating him/her/it? I don't know if I'll have the skill to do major surgery, but I think I might try to make it glow.

The neck infill might be dificult to pull off, but if you included glow effects in the eyesockets, mouth and the like, it could work.

Yeah, when I originally made my post I was thinking of Nethyrmaul and the $25. $10 isn't nearly so bad.

I still feel free to 'woof' about the ribcage though. Now I'm going to 'howl at the moon', since my critical comments apparently make me a werewolf. x]

Actually I think any filler spaces on minis is uglytastic. It's extremely lazy of the sculptor. I can't think of any instance where it's a good idea. The only filler I need is when I'm putting two halves together, and what do I fill it with? That's for me to decide!

Well we don't know that it's laziness on the part of the sculptor; it might very well be a mold-making issue. I agree it's ugly, but the practical limitations of the medium require some sacrifices.

That said, I'm not regretting passing on this model.

I'm loving the Kaladrax sculpt and cannot wait to get my hands on that baby! I think it would be a really simple process to add a smidge of green stuff to the tail spines to make them a little more prominent, and could easily see myself doing that.

As far as the ribcage and neck column are concerned..I've got plenty of ideas with regards to that. :grr:

You can expect Kaladrax and many other Bones minis to be heavily modified to fit my overall vision which isn't dependent upon original artwork.

I LOVE Kaladrax! I'm getting 3 of it so I can try out an idea. If I can pull it off I'll share it with you all. Otherwise, it's likely to look horrible and I wouldn't want to subject anyone to that. Think it's too late to increase my pledge? :-)

It's extremely lazy of the sculptor.

Are you a sculptor? Mold-maker? Caster? Unless you are intimately familiar with the production process and requirements, I think it is inappropriate to make such a judgement.

Not 'professionally', but I imagine we'll all have to become sculptors if we want to deal with the 'filler' in some way other than glow paint. Better to get the original right the first time rather than pass the work on to the customers. That's just my opinion and therefore I still think it's lazy of the sculptor. I can't imagine that I'd need to be a mold-maker or caster to make that assessment.

I'm sure we all cut corners and are lazy to some extent when it comes to some projects. Some more than others. It's not a big insult as far as I'm concerned.

Also, your response is tacky. If someone goes to a restaurant and complains about their food and says it seems like the cook was lazy, can you imagine the chef coming out and saying, "Are you a chef? A waiter? A restaurant manager? Unless you are a cook and know how to cook then you can not say my food is bad!"

I don't think it's lazy at all. I think it is a requirement of the mold making process for PVC and quite possibly a structural requirement for the stability of the model. I would never make a statement about a professional sculptor being lazy. I may comment on style, content or pose, but that doesn't make them lazy. So I'm going to chalk it up to poor word choice on your part.

We don't know the reasons, so how about we drop this line of conversation?

My brother told me that he wants to paint his as chrome. That could look pretty cool!

Yes, or I would have added at least another one of these.

(And more likely another Kaladrax, another Wyrmgyr, another. . . .)

Yeah, but wasn't somebody else just saying last week that Kit opened theirs back up again? Maybe it was longer than that....
