It's a perfect place to pop a smaller creature (maybe one of the bones familiars, maybe something from the bits box) as a crest!

problem solved and uniqunes achived.

All praise the reaper sculptor!

Get out of my head; there was a series of knights that Reaper did that all had helms with big stuff on top (I'm not going to link them; you can go find them yourself if you want to look) - a castle (i.e. the chess piece), unicorn, bull, etc. I'm thinking the exact same thing for the giants, except using the heads of animals from the Reaper line instead, and GS'ing them to look like they were lopped off and tacked in place.

I smell a movie...

"In a world, where goblins are treated like bugs beneath the heels of adventurers. One goblin strives to rise above his status to inspire a people. Danger in the form of randomly exploding wizards lurks at every junction (cue action sequence trying to make it looks like buglips dies, but of course it would end the movie).

(cue cheesy dialogue for Oscar consideration)

"if you can't walk Mr. buglips, then I'll carry you..."

and here comes the ninja Buglips slicing one exploding wizard at a time.

Some pics of dracoliches with filled-in ribcages. I thought the D&D dracolich ribcage wasn't filled-in, but it doesn't look like it from the pic:

EDIT: The D&D dracolich ribcage is hollow. It's a multi-part figure, no surprise.

That flat top sticks out like a sore thumb, but nothing that can't be fixed. I remember the GW garishly festooned helmets and suggest a little sticky-tack and one of these miniatures affixed to said helmet. Indeed, depending on the day of the week and mood of said giant, any sort of thingamabobber with a flat end can be attached to make an angry killer bloodthirsty giant's fashion statement.

Oh, and it could always be the camera angle.

That 'flat top' is a traditional European helmet.

The style was used for over a hundred years. Normans into the Crusades.

There is nothing wrong with the helmet - there is a failure for folks to be familiar with their history. Do not take my word for it - Google it and take a look at all the pretty pictures. You may learn something. Sometimes there were great helms that had a top that was just as flat. Sometimes the helmet was worn with something that looked an awful lot like a hockey mask. Usually it was worn with a coif.

Oi!

Heck, I know SCAdians that wear those helms at tourney.

I do have some problems with the sword - but that is an easy, easy fix.

The Auld Grump

You can buy a similar helm at Get A Sword for $130.

The Auld Grump

If I were to pick one thing to think was off, it would be his forward foot. It's sideways, instead of pointed towards his opponent, which would seem more natural. But that is a bit of a minor detail, not really something that bothers me.

FWIW, there are at least 3 more. Trying searching "sir werner" for more of the hits (this keeps it to just the models with sir in the name, and the series was sculpted by Werner Klocke). Come to think of it, they might even be in a boxed set.

EDIT: Winner-winner, chicken dinner.

This would be the aforementioned Ral Partha LE Dracolich. If it is filled in there, it is because the person building/painting it did so.

EDIT: Also, it is missing its nose-horn. Not uncommon for this kit (fortunately, both of mine have them).
