Classic Dungeon Adventurers Miniature Set - Chibi Style

I've been watching this one with an eye toward augmenting the choices in Super Dungeon Explore. The proportions are slightly different, but there are a number of cool representation of dungeon tropes. My son is looking at the ponies as a MLP SM terminator army, just to lighten the tone within his group.

I'm seriously curious what their customer base is made up of. The figs will look right in Super Dungeon Explore and they started pandering to the Bronies recently, but are those groups big enough to bring those kind of numbers? I also kinda wonder if Sword World players scooping these up.

Well you've got fans of the original cartoon inspiration

Chibi fans in general

SDE players

Several have mentioned planning to put together Heroquest or similar using the Chibis (and maybe the chest/dungeon tiles too)

Pony fans/Bronnies (I was pretty suprised, but the modified ponys were what sold it to me)

A small side order of Cthulhu (me too)

and painters looking for something a bit different (me again)

so a fair few groups are potentially interested.

They've said they are running it as basically a 'break even' project so while it may not bring much cash to keep it will pay for a fair bit of sculpting/art/moulds to use in the future, and help publicise the company

I am watching this one with interest cause they are cute! However, I am wondering if anyone has had experience with the trollcast plastic?

It is a brittle plastic like a resin mini or is it a bendy one like bones and clix figures? I wish they were metal :(

not brittle and not bendy either, have a look here (probably closest to a cross between resin and polystyrene in feel)

The plastic is supposed to be very tough and durable. Red Box Mini's (Tre Manor) is converting all of their minis to Troll Forge I believe. The finished products I have see pictures of have looked great and they held their detail from the original sculpts quite well. The wolves from Tre's Kickstarter are proof of that.

The guy who made and casts all the Troll Forge stuff, Ed Fortae, has his own kickstarter up right now that will be sporting all Troll Forge minis as well.

We should start to see the mini's from Tre's Kickstarter soon so that will tell us how good the material is. I will be posting my own review once I get my order in hand this coming month.

I gave in, finally. I started a new game last night, and since I prefer to run fun-based games with occasional serious moments, they just work for my DM style. Why not? What's fun is fun, even if it is Chibi!

Besides, how could I not get Lord Soth and the Gnoll? Must haves!
