Planeflake
Would it be possible to get an extra set of shields for the Clockwork Dragon which appear closer to the concept art? possibly an extra tail option as the tail seems to lack a lot of detail from the concept art. Just thought if there was enough people interested could you make those parts removeable if there not already? Thanks in advance for any replies. Heisler
I suspect that we are only seeing a quick preview of the dragon and its not quite ready yet.
Pingo
Also I believe the clockwork dragons will come in several pieces which people can glue together as they choose. Even if they don't, the Bones plastic is relatively easy to cut and reposition.
Niranth
I am not able to answer for Reaper, so the following are only my opinion. I think it would be easy to use inkjet printer decal paper to make the shield designs and then it becomes your concept as well. I didn't notice any loss of detail on the tail, just weathering. The tail just needs to be bent around to the left side of the dragon. This will be the test of seeing how easy it is to permanently bend Bones plastic
ced1106
Reaper sells individual shield bits. I remember GW includes shields with its fantasy miniatures. Freehand can be time consuming, but I'm seeing it more and more as a necessary skill. Here're some shield freehand tutorials: http://realmofchaos80s.blogspot.com/2012/08/arcane-armorials-painting-skulls-old.html http://www.coolminiornot.com/articles/7364-painting-free-hand-designs
Frankthedm
The tail does look a bit less baroque than the sketch, though overall, the model is pretty close the concept art. Once reason it looks less detailed is the greyscale pencil sketch has more contrast for the details, where the preview is just green or white. I am a tad disappointed that the shield is flat rather than embossed, though there was no specific word if this is the final or if the model was receiving further tweaks. Like say greenstuff embossing over the 3D printed shields.

Like say greenstuff embossing over the 3D printed shields. If you browse the comments on the update it is officially stated that this is the finished model. The one caveat is that it wasn't assembled quite right for the photograph, the front kite shield should be positioned higher to cover the large rectangle. They also say its highly unlikely that different shield options will be included.
Argentee
I may be in the minority, but I prefer the shields blank. I can paint on them whatever I wish that way. Moving the kite shield up would be better, yes. Might end up buying multiple of these now. Hrm....
recruittons
Drawing some heraldry on the shields on this guy is going to be fun!
CashWiley
Several mini kickstarters have revealed the amount people don't understand about the artistic process of creating minis. I love seeing the process, but I can understand why folks like the McVeys have stopped showing greens and probably won't be showing concept art in the future. I love seeing the process, but I can understand why folks like the McVeys have stopped showing greens and probably won't be showing concept art in the future. That is a shame. I know that I don't know a lick about the artistic process of creating miniatures, but I would really like to learn. The more I learn about an endeavor, the more I appreciate the results. recruittons
Yeah, it all seems very fun, actually! My local community college has a sculpture class that teaches design, sculpting, mold-making, and casting of models. I think I might audit that thing some time to see how well I do and learn something about the process.
Adrift
Normally those are details I'm going to be painting back in!!!
Frankthedm
While I think the tail would have benefited from more detail, like the underside blades near the base and the wider ring-like separations near the end, we did gain a lot from the sculpting process. We may have lost some detail, but we gained 28% MORE DRAGON! The Dragon was supposed to be 7" tall, and the concept made a lot of that wing. The actual model is "just under" 9" and the wings are scaled down from the concept, making it far larger. Here is a rough scale shot based on the description we have. That skeleton is # 02225, not a puny model in man sized category, with his base he really is 1.5"tall. And, yes, this model kit will come in parts that need assembly., because it is a model kit.~Matt And I'm betting also because it would cost notably more to package and ship assembled! Not calling Reaper cheap, Assembly and larger packaging can be a significant cost.
buglips*the*goblin
I wants one in metal. I wants one in metal. I wants one in metal.
