And how many of these mythical people even know who those sculptors are?

 

Yes those of us with an interest in minis will be able to identify the sculptors and associate them with other work, however seeing greens is far more important than having the name of some sculptor. Heck the responses of people to things like the Clockwork Dragon and Cthulhu minis in the Bones line should prove this beyond any doubt to casual commenters.

I agree that the most important thing is to see the greens. Unfortunately most mini kickstarters I've followed have ended long before most of the greens are shown. Having a sculptors name lets me research him online to see not only what else he's done but also how well he is regarded by others in the industry. Before I pledge any money, I do my homework and I research anyone who I'm not already familiar with.

 

Maybe I'm in the minority of folks who do that before backing a project, but even so I think it's important info to have.

Actually, I don't think it's a "problem;" it's enthusiasm. Folks who really want the Kickstarter to succeed extremely well, and the best way to accomplish that is to get other folks to back it. What do we suggest to get others to back? What would get us to back it. It's just human nature.

 

And whatever that impetus is, it's felt that upfront and obvious is the best way to show it off.

 

Speaking of which, the greens and the sculptor info have been on the front page since last night. ;)

Hope so! I've seen a preview of the next Bonus Goal, and I think it's something the gang around here is going to like. It gets revealed after the Wormlings are unlocked, so not that far now.

Hurrah! Just broke $20K, so that stop-sign battleaxe (or base decoration) can become a reality! I went ahead and boosted my pledge for the minis case. (I'm hoping it will interlock with my Portable Warfare cases; the linking mechanism looks to be the same.)

 

Oh, and I'm so looking forward to this unlocking, too:
