JackMann
So, looked through the preview gallery, and did some comparisons of my order and add-ons. I didn't factor in anything from Vampire unless I ordered an extra set. For now, the ones I could find were Kaladrax, Nethyrmaul, Clockwork Dragon, Cthulhu, and Swamp Things. Everything else either hasn't been shown in its entirety or else I didn't get any beyond what were included in my vampires. These add-ons cost me $80. Buying them retail will cost $253.31. Yeah, kind of a good deal.

JackMann
So, that's another $2,000 vs. $400 right there. When we have all of the prices, I intend to go through my order and see just how much it would have cost retail. I got at least one of everything, and several of a few, so I've got a feeling it's going to be a pretty high total.
dispatchdave
So sad I missed the big dragons. Alas, that means more money for Reaper and my FLGS. I'm ok with that. -DD
Dadcubed
I'm not going to look at what it would have cost retail because I feel a bit guilty for getting so many great miniatures at cost price. I am going to make up for my guilt by ordering more things from Reaper!!! :)
JackMann
"Guilty?" I don't understand this word. Is it like, gilt-y? Golden? Because I feel pretty golden about how I made out.
ShadowRaven
Yeah, I made out like a thief with just the standard Vampire, and I feel no guilt. Those of you who did even better with the dragons, shouldn't have any guilt either, because, a quick look at the Kickstarter again reveals that Reaper made out like the king of bandits off us. buglips*the*goblin
We all win. Without the KS it might have been 5 years, or more, for this many Bones to become available.
ShadowRaven
you know it. But now thanks to the KS, I am going to soon need more shelves, and reaper is going to get several large orders from me. Who knows, I may even bite the bullete and get the undead dragons.
Heisler
Well I know there were levels that they did take a loss on. I'm guessing Kaladrax was an overall loss level, based on what they charged for the add-on and what the retail price is going to be.
Frankthedm
Reaper is a good poker player and their cards are kept close to their chests*, so we'll probably never know how much, the Kickstarter Kaladraxes are putting them in the hole. Just remember the Retail Price is set so that The Factory, Reaper { the importer], the Distributor and the Retailer all see a profit from the sale, so the loss will be less than it at first seems since two middlemen are cut out from the loop. *The 9/11 charity mini was one of the few times I've heard Reaper giving solid numbers. Heisler
I guess I would apply caution to how much Reaper made. Bryan has said that they lost money on more than one of the stretch goals, which likely means any "profit" made on other stretch goals was eaten up. Fortunately they made enough on top of the cost of production and shipping to purchase the plastic injection machine and expand the warehouse to accommodate it. So what ever profit was realized by the kickstarter was poured right back into the company to bring Bones production to the US. For this action I am eternally grateful, as it puts Reaper years in front of some of its competition.
sethohman
Wish I would have gotten more than one of the dragons, for sure.
Shakandara
It's also worth remembering that early on in the project, Reaper stated that they were also prepared to put money towards the project to make it happen. The building expansion, injection casting machine, and molds represent an investment for them. They used the KS to mitigate the risk associated with that investment, so it is conceivable that in terms of true profit, Reaper may not have realized any... yet. But if all those investments have been bought and paid for, not only is Reaper ahead of the competition as Kris suggests, but also the finances. ~v
Dan Goodchild
It's also important to remember that the point of the project was not to generate massive profit, it was to accelerate the production of the molds. The molds are the real investment here as they'll be used for years to come. Reaper saw how well received the Bones line was in spite of how few figues it had and wisely decided to expand the line as soon as possible. The huge success of the project opened up some additional options for them and (being prepared for that possibility) they ran with it. I was (and remain) deeply impressed by how well run this company is.
