I was thinking of what the MSRP of some of these minis would be post-kickstarter. Im in at swarm+ level. Got a free goliath on a 120mm base and is 6"-8" tall which is maybe $50-$60 MSRP, a huge drone thats maybe $40-$50 MSRP, a fiend thats 5"-6" tall thats maybe $30-$40 MSRP, and a 3"-4" long cannon drone on a 120mm base thats maybe $40 MSRP. My guessing may be WAY off, but it seems that two or three of these large critters more than payed for my pledge and everything else is gravy.

Awesome deal!

Ed has a huge edge in being a sculptor and caster.

Cash has got it right,

and not only is Ed a great sculptor & a caster more and more in demand (Red Box Games and now Impact are using his Trollcast) he has already got an established online shop so has an up to date feel for what shipping will cost him (which shouldn't be to bad as trollcast is resin weight rather than metal)

He was working with Defiance to help them set up inhouse casting using a variant of the trollforged materials,

however from what he has posted(ID HiveTrigon) on Frothers (don't browse this forum at work, the language regularly used there will offend) it seems Defiance are not listening to him when he tells them what they need to do to get the casting to work, but instead keep ploughing along anouncing more new sets while unable to produce the ones they've got.

so quite how involved there he remains ?

Everyone gets $20! Except queen levels, they get $40.

Ooookayyy...

I guess I'd better start considering what else would be helpful in games.

...

My players are going to be so traumatized.

Oh! And that $20 credit is also good for any items already available on the Troll Forged Miniatures webstore, so if there is anything there you'd like, you can get that! They have some cool fantasy stuff.

Even the metal minis? Because I've looked at Trollforged now and have seen a number of things I'm interested in, some of them little individual metal minis. They have an interesting artistic vision (if I have any quibble, it's that they are pretty lacking in female figures).

It would be awesome if we could get some of those figures and accessories as part of this Kickstarter.

@Pingo: Yeah, it's basically a store credit, so if you see something you like, I would put it down and when they ask for you add-ons and swaps, give let them know what you want!

As for the lack of female figures, I noticed that. Most of the females are either elves, or the gangers, my favorites are Ganger Girl, Dhang Sister, and Nikolya!

The interesting thing about his webstore is that you'll notice a ton of artists. What Ed does is take submissions, through his forum, of sculpts. If he likes it, he'll take the original sculpt, make a master cast of it, send it back, and then sell it on his store for them. The artist keeps the rights to the piece, Ed just gets a license to produce them, so artists can revoke that and have him remove it whenever they want. As long as he sells it, he pays the artist 30% of all sales back as royalties, keeping 70% for himself for labor, materials, etc. Kind of a neat way to get product and help out budding sculptors to show off their work!

Frothers (don't browse this forum at work, the language regularly used there will offend)

That forum looks kind of interesting, but I note they are in the UK.

I don't quite know how to ask this.

Are females ... um ... welcome?

Most of my experience with UK games and gamers is that they have been almost blindly boy-centric, with, if they are brought up very firmly to consider the matter, the odd bit of bewilderment that someone female might actually have a place somewhere in the universe of gaming.

I may be being terribly unfair here. I can only say it has been my experience with UK games, gaming publications, and (distantly) gamers since around 1985 or so.

Looking forward to getting my Red Box KS product and seeing the Trollcast.

Same here. Tre has spoken quite highly of it so thats a plus but it still would be nice to actually try out.

@Pingo There are several women on that forum, just realize that on Frothers if you get offended they will mock you endlessly. I only lurk myself.

Most of the time if I get offended I just leave quietly and don't come back. Sometimes it ain't worth the arguing.

That said, strong language and controversial topics don't especially offend me. What offends me is feeling as though I am unwelcome because of what I am.

Hmm, come to think of it, it's feeling as though any group of people is unwelcome because of what they are (as compared to what they do, if you see the difference). This, by the way, applies only in general interest forums, not ones centered around people's identities.

But I am probably dragging the thread way off topic here, sorry.

Looking forward to seeing how this KS turns out, and how it expands Trollforged's store.

I've been assuming that people that pledged for one of the bases only levels (I went in for the $25 one to get two sizes) do not get credits and so I do not need to worry my feeble brain with anything other than do I want round or square?

AFAIK, you get credit. Didn't know you can use his store!

Okay, I'm thoroughly confused and overwhelmed what to buy in his store -- the bases look to be the best price, but any suggestions for someone who has no idea what to get? :D

$20 / .40 per base = 50 more bases

As for female sculpts, best bet is to buy them and encourage others to submit them as sculpts. I'm pretty sure all the non-humans in the Reaper KS are female, though.
