Sorry for the blather but speaking of bases...

 

Any suggestions for using bases as terrain markers?

 

Would their 60mm bases be the best fit as terrain (difficult and blocking)?

 

I also have a Battle Masters map (huge hexes) and I was originally going to use 25mm bases as markers, indicating that the entire hex had a certain terrain type.

Same here. Tre has spoken quite highly of it so thats a plus but it still would be nice to actually try out.

 

@Pingo There are several women on that forum, just realize that on Frothers if you get offended they will mock you endlessly. I only lurk myself.

 

Most of the time if I get offended I just leave quietly and don't come back. Sometimes it ain't worth the arguing.

 

That said, strong language and controversial topics don't especially offend me. What offends me is feeling as though I am unwelcome because of what I am.

 

Hmm, come to think of it, it's feeling as though any group of people is unwelcome because of what they are (as compared to what they do, if you see the difference). This, by the way, applies only in general interest forums, not ones centered around people's identities.

If you get abuse of Frothers (sorry when you get abuse on Frothers) it will probably because of what you said not who you are.

 

I'm mainly a lurker on there, but have not seen any anti-female bias (although friendly abuse/swearing is the norm), It's mainly about the minis rather than the gaming on there too, which may help.

 

Quite a number of the smaller producers/sculptors post on there so there is always something worth reading going on

Okay, so I had to know the limitations, so I messaged Ed about it, and the $20 credit is for anybody who pledged $25 or more to the KS. He said he was hastily wording it to push out a new stretch rewards. Although, looking at everyone here, it seems $25 was the lowest pledge I've heard, so I think you all are safe

Looks like my credit won't be going to the TFM store after all, can't use trade-in value to upgrade bases. Still, it's basically a 'free' base upgrade for Queen, plus a lilbit. This is going to be a nightmare to reconstruct :)

I've put the Alien Hunter Support Unit (AH Support) pledge, with upgraded bases, as $130 in the primary pledge, and $120 in all the extra pledges under US/ free shipping, and $140 in the in the primary pledge, $122 in all the extra pledges, under International shipping.

As pledges are put into the Pledge Manager in the order of highest cost first, down to the lowest, it does restrict when the discount applies. Basically you would have to take a pledge of equal or greater value in the primary pledge to then be able to select the special discounted version. Placing a lower value pledge in the primary pledge slot (i.e. bases), and then picking the upgraded AH support unit for the 2nd slot would be rejected (this is subject to change).

And to my surprise and slight disappointment, The grubs and adults are being supplied with 30mm bases. I'm not a fan of that base size, ESPECIALLY for a ruleset using massive hordes of minis. The creator has mentioned that there will be options for getting other sizes though.

Okay, this is kind of big news! Especially if you pledged $200+

 

Special credit clarifications: You must spend $25+ to receive the $20 special credit. You must spend $200+ to received the $40 special credit. Special credit can be used as 'cash', and can be used to buy more pledges, or put towards pledges.

This means the $40 special credit is no longer tied to the Queen level (Ed said you all deserve it for your support)

But more importantly I'm happy about the 25mmX50mm pill base! Those are rare, and for some reason one of the bigger MDF base companies [Litko] really overcharges for that style. Only one of that style I know of is a 50mm x 25mm x 3mm counter / tiddlywink from EM-4 minis.

Yeah, while this change was extremely generous, it really does put Queen in the shadow of Swarm. I pledged Queen, and there where basically three factors making me feel good about sticking with this choice to the end: the deal for ugrading to decorative bases was much better for Queen than for Swarm, free international shipping, and the extra $20 bonus. Now that the last of these is not a factor anymore, I'm really starting to see how 2xSwarm (with a few trades) would get me so much

more stuff...
