...did you buy two Kit 2s, or did you get another Tsuko/Laurana? And, whichever way... why?

I had a defective kit. Reaper corrected the issue, but in the process I ended up with Two of Tsuko and Laurana. So one of the Laurana's is becoming a Necromancer.

No, but she'll be in reds instead of blue and green. And instead of her foot resting on a rock, it's on a skull.

Interesting the new paint in the kits. My instructions are for Ruddy Flesh (pro paint), but the MSPs it shipped with were Tanned Skin.

 

Not sure what came in the first proper MSP kit when they went from box format to big blister pack.

Id be inspired to join in... if only they had them in stock in the store. I want to get LTPK 1 & 2 at the same time so it qualifies for free shipping but theres nothing but 1 & 3..

Well, they already qualify for free shipping since they're over $25 each... fund that out the hard way last time they were out of #2s...

Well after two hours of painting this morning I have:

A damp floor

An annoyed cat

A pile of minis soaking in Pinesol.

Id buy them locally, but I havent seen anywhere that stocks them. I just have to be patient.

@Caffeine: Also, one thought is to research what additional paints you'll need. For example, if both paints sets combined have two out of three of a triad color, consider buying the third color. Myself, I have a D&D Adventure System with drow miniatures I wanted to paint. Since the KS miniatures also have dark elves and dark elf colors are hard to paint, I got a dark elf triad.

It is totally worth spending the money to get 2 sets of paints; 22 bottles is over $70 Aus and you get 4 minis and 4 paint brushes as well, or just grab 1 set and 4 or 5 minitures.

Yeah, thats what Ive been thinking. It looks like good value for what you get, provided I can actually find them in stock. At the moment only Kit 1 (the first) and Kit 3 (recommended last) are in the store, so Id probably end up with kit 3 sitting there until I could get my hands on the rest of the them.

 

The only concern is the number of duplicates is a little weird... especially since Ive got sets 1-3 of the KS paints already locked in, which has further duplicates. Just buying kits 1&2 Id end up with I think 9 extras. (Or maybe 10... trying to figure out if black wash and black ink are the same. edit: Appears not. Both on the paint list separately.)

 

But Id ideally like to get some LTPKs for in the meantime before the Bones stuff arrives and get in some practice. Plus I quite like the included minis for their own sake.

Since you're concerned about duplicates, maybe skip LTPK1. I pretty much learned the same stuff from the 'net. Did you see the WIP thread for LTPK1? I'd recommend getting some junk miniatures and craft paints (if you don't already have hobby paints) and see if you can do the WIP yourself.

Hmm. . . . If you know anyone who's got either the Mantic zombies or Wargames Factory skeletons, you ought to see if you can pester them for one of the 'rising dead' sculpts you get in these sets.

Most wargamers end up with a few of the components for these spare. And while, yes, pairing them up would require a tedious amount of jigsawing the bases to get them to fit together with the undead under the beckoning hand, it would fit her pose wonderfully.
