I have a horrible feeling you're right

Even if the think they're prepared will all their suppliers be able to come through with large volumes of bits, even if they have said 'sure we can supply X thousand parts'

(sort of like your bottle suppliers)

It's probably easier for projects like this that use standard manufacturers than the ones that produce their products by hand. I backed Artisan Dice, which ended up with more than 300x the goal amount, for handmade wooden dice. Unsurprisingly, almost 6 months later he's still producing them.

In the event of a runaway success they could pull a Dreadball and cap the existing backer reward levels, and then introduce new ones for a "+6 month delivery" date. Repeat this process every time the order volume reaches the limit of what the supplier is promising. There's always the chance that the suppliers will drop the ball entirely of course.

I think a bigger concern for them is introducing too many options, and ending up with certain {size, color, style} combinations that only get picked by a small handful of backers. They'd still be on the hook for placing a minimum order of that combination, but then left with a bunch of unsold and unpopular stock. However, since price-per-ring is fixed in this kickstarter at $13-$15, (they're not growing a "Vampire" pledge every day with more free stuff) it's possible that they've built those minimum order costs into the original goal and each stretch goal. Ah well, I'm in for $42, which is an amount I'm prepared to lose if the whole thing falls apart on them. They're local guys to me, loved the video, and I like seeing the solo entrepreneurs out there trying make their way in the world. I at least don't see anything they've done "wrong" up to this point.

Sorry for the shameless bump, but they're down to 8 days, and I think going really strong. The project creators have kept a really good eye on design feasibility, cost models, and getting assurances from their manufacturer. Always room for surprises, but so far I'm feeling really good about this one to deliver. The life counter rings are unlocked and should be useful in just about every game with some kind of scoring track. And I'm also rooting for the r24 at $230k. It's a single ring for all your dice rolling RPG needs! I even wrote up a tutorial for such uses: http://pastebin.com/PgPHAu22 Anyway, really hoping more people pile in here and give it a nice surge at the end.

I wavered on this one but finally decided to back it. If there's way more backers than expected then I might get mine later than the stated deadline. I'm good with waiting. Many a Kickstarter has missed a deadline or seven but eventually got things done.

Personally I plan on sending a RPSLS ring to a distant friend and play by text when we're bored. I pledged enough to be able to get several rings and different sizes/colors so I can gift them out too.

It's a fun idea and being able to spin the "Yes/No" ring at work when asked a question will be worth it right there.

One of my rings was not spinning well, I was thinking of spraying it with WD-40 or Liquid Wrench, then I saw their update about washing them with soapy water to get out any grit from the manufacturing process, and that seemed to work.

Got my set of 9 (Life Counter waiting, and 2 for friends, so 7 for me.) They seem about a half size smaller than the sizing rings I used to get the size with, so a couple fit the finger I sized a little tighter than I'd like, but wearable, a couple I need to wear on a different finger. Not huge issues as I can just sit them on my middle knuckles while playing, and put my "jewelry" ones on a slightly smaller finger, but for any looking to purchase from their website just a heads up, might want to go up a half size for comfortability. As far as spinning, they mostly spin great, I gave them a dish-soap bath just to clear them out, but they spun decent even before that. Slight exception for my d4 probably because it's so small/thin. (I got the d4 sized for my pinky, it's tiny.) Overall I'm happy though! Excited for my next game.

Mine arrived too! The two with multiple wheels (Fudge, Tarot) spin great out of the bag, but I need to give the d20 a bath for smoother spinning. I used an online sizing tool and my fingers change size a lot depending on the temperature and other random factors, so I'm not sure I should comment on the sizing. I just got a range of sizes figuring they'd fit one finger or another. ;->
