hehe thx man,

I'm not a historical guy so I figured I'd be happy with just a basic paint job for this game, the plastic rubble sculpted bases really helps them visually I think, they have just enough little details to offset the repetitive limited poses of the figures.

thx all,I'm glad some folks are enjoying them..wasn't sure if there was any interest in those kind of figures.

I got to play them yesterday..but lost(FOW is much less forgiving when your learning) but I came very close with a hail mary pass charge to one of the objectives.

I find the Canadian Airborne infantry army that always defends and is concealed, gone to ground and dug in almost impossible to kill..so i'm looking into how to change my build for next month of the escalation league to counter that.

and Anti Air..I didn't think anyone would have any Air support at 900..I was wrong :)

I got the next 4 SMG teams finished up I tried some freehand writing on the road signs..wow thats challenging to keep a steady hand on a textured surface..but Its a good learning experience and is legible at least

...I need to finish two more for tomorrow afternoons game and then I can move onto Mortar teams and anti tank guns.

I'm still waiting for another set of plastic rubble bases, large bases templates and decals to come in to work on other teams and I need the decals to finish the tanks. I hope they come in this week.

The long delays in delivery is one the problems I have with ordering things thru the local store..I want to support them and buy stuff there. But it ends up taking 5 weeks get getstuff delivered that I can get in 2weeks for the same price ordering online...

I absolutely love the red bases. With all of them together like so, it looks epic. I would play this game, having been sold just on how nice you made it look.

Thx Buglips! Wait till you see the rest of the Russian infantry Horde :) The PSC Russian Infantry bundle comes with 130 figures on 5 sprews..Plus I got 2 more of the infantry sprews with the Tanks army bundle..so that about 180 all together, with a mix of machinegun soldiers, riflemen, submachinegun and officers. So this is about 1/3rd of all the infantry I have to do :;): ..Tho I suspect they'll get back burnered once the bones KS arrives in the great white north

oh? what are you having a hard time with?

I just used a mix of linen white with a small amount of brown and used the side edge of the 5/0 brush to paint the tops of the stitches..I let a dark wash fill in the recesses

I like that you went with a patchwork pattern..I couldn't get my head around the highlighting and shading transitions between patches so I went with one color :)

I got two more smg teams done and am working on the last 3 while doing those I've also been working on the jeeps and crews.
I got a couple builds that use 3 jeeps as transport for my 1iC, 2iC and Battalion Komissar.
I left the crews on the metal sprews and just painted and dipped them. Then Base coated the jeeps.
I used a brown wash over the leather and cloth and black wash over the rest of the jeep. I'm trying to see how I like the results on vehicles of Dark shade dip(which Ill use on transport trucks) vs just wash's.

next I need to glue in the crews and then I'm gonna try some secret weapon weathering pigment "yellow earth"
I've never used pigments before but some videos make it look pretty straight forward..I'm gonna try to focus on the tires and wheel wells and the front grill and undercarriage areas...see if some dusty dirt looks better then nice and clean.

so I got everything glued in..applied some pigment to the jeeps that looked really cool and dusty dirty look.
then I gave it a good coat of dullcote...and the pigment is about 80% gone...i think the varnish melted/soaked it up..

So I'm not sure if its a good idea but tomorrow I'm gonna try and reapply some pigment and then just give it a very light dullcote spray unlike my rather excessive normal.

here they are so far.

forgot I never posted the last 5 SMG teams, as well I added some grass to the jeep bases.

While waiting for a new shipment of plastic rubble bases to come in I've just been assembling all the transports, armored transports, T34's and Stormovik IL-2.

support+supplies.jpg

The Zvezda Zis-5 transports and BA-10 armored transports are pretty finicky to assemble..they're almost more like tiny models then miniature figures(they have engine blocks under the hoods for example)
But I got 10 Transports assembled, all 15 T-35's and should have the rest of Ba-10's and planes done tomorrow.

welp I ordered direct from flames of war and ended up with a mess in a box
4 blister packs of Su-122, 2 of which have wrong hull..they are the hulls for su-85's(as far as I can tell) both the wrong hulls are missing the correct gun and didn't come wiht the incorrect guns either
so I have 2 out of 4 I can build.

never had the main figure being wrong in a blister before..bits missing but not the main figure.. its kinda like opening the blister for the frost giant jarl and it had the torso for the firegiant king in it. close..but nottttt quite right.

I've sent customer service email about the mistakes..heres hoping
the tracks in these are plastic..tho I thought they'd be metal like the gun and bits..the resin hulls are very hmm crooked.
heres the underside ..the key for the plastic tracks don't align and the resin side with the single key isn't even close to being straight..i'm not sure if I should use greenstuff to full it in or try to sand down till its flat..not the kind of thing I'd figure you'd have trouble with from a tank
So far i'm not impressed with these assault guns at all.

Hum. Warped resin. It can come out of the moulds a bit soft, or the moulds themselves might not hold a rigid shape well. You've been spoiled; this is fairly typical. I don't know if FOW hold themselves to a higher standard or not!

I'd fill the gap if the model is otherwise OK, sanding looks like it'd be too radical and remove too much mass.

ya i don't have alot of resin pieces and nothing thats as hard and brittle as this stuff( i dropped a hull from about 2inches onto a self healing cutting mat and the corner of the flange around the track broke off)

I think at this point I prefer plastic and metal to resin for gaming pieces.

The jeeps and these are the first official battlefield stuff I bought..the PSC and Zvezda is all light plastic..but at 1/3 to 1/2 the price of these resin/metal combo's Im abit more lenient

But I probably am to spoiled by coming into the hobby so recently I'm not used to all the ins and outs of different manufactures and materials.

I ended up just carving up the plastic track so it was flush against the resin..it doesn't sit flat on the table, due to warping of the sides,..kinda like a wobbly table at a coffee shop..but it is what it is.
