Is 'gesso' the same thing as 'primer' for minis?

Recommended Posts

I find when I prime with gesso on hard plastic, it requires drybrush application to cover well without adding additional texture (or removing) to the mini. I have not tried the reaper brush on primer yet but I think I will put that on my next order. At the end of the day, the gesso is the least expensive priming material I have, so I will still use it for priming things where the texture difference is not so important, such as cork bases, or things for which a bit of added texture is desired.
