Well, Adam, you're certainly making me rethink my monetary priorities. That Dragon is awesome! So far, I've only paid half attention to your company; despite your minis being gorgeous, most of them aren't useful to me or my games. But now you've attached this to a game, one of a type I don't think I've seen in tabletop form, and your minis are suddenly more affordable! It's brilliant, I tell you.

 

So I'm likely in for a bit over 200 at this point...but here's the big tipping point to send me further: do you have plans to make either the Wet Nurse or Scribe available (relatively inexpensively) through this KS? The Scribe I might actually use in one of my D&D games, and the Wet Nurse just seems like something I'd like to tackle with a brush. She/It is the one mini of yours I keep checking around for, forlorn that I didn't snag one of the limited runs.

I am Adam Poots the creator of Kingdom Death. I am not a reaper forum regular although I do own a pile of reaper miniatures. A friend pointed me towards here and I thought I would pop in and offer to answer any questions regarding the Kickstarter, Kingdom Death or myself. If its not appropriate for me to do that here... I apologize and in that case WILL NOT answer any questions!

Slightly off topic, but does anyone know how Kicktraq decides what is "Hot" and where they place in their top list? I was curious what the projection was for this project (not enough data yet), but I noticed that this project was listed as #8 on the list so far today, which I would normally think is pretty cool.

 

My question is this ... #7 is currently an apparently quick board game called Dungeon Heroes. And I have not the sligthest idea why kicktraq would rate this as #7 and Kingdon Death as #8. Dollars raised so far today: $65 to $17k+. Number of pledges: 1 to 36. Dollars per pledge: $65 to $400+. If prior days' information is included the spread is even more extreme.

 

Any theories?

@Reaperbryan, WOW thank you so very much! I grew up with Reaper & Gamesworkshop and I am extremely grateful that my fan project turned small business is welcome here. I don't know where i'd be in all those early years of D&D without reaper mini's helping us imagine combat. ( Back in 2nd edition before we had ze ole grid… which looking back I think i prefered. if your gonna make a game with miniatures then include them in the core design, while a game about imagination can instead…. agh i am stopping! )

@Nocturne, I am unsure if you mean am I crazy for pricing it too low, or too high! Kickstarter is well, sort of a scary thing to run! Sure its exciting but this financial balancing act is pretty nuts. Including art, sculpting fees, tooling, production and shipping to me I've got this expansion roughly budgeted at costing around $60k. Peoples expectations of prices and their perceived value is all over the place, so while I am still listening I more focused on making it all just feasible and being fiscally responsible. When I can offer discounts I will and when I can't… I won't! I don't think I can do another expansion of this size at 50% off again, but it depends on how many backers we end up with. I feel very strongly that kickstarter is not groupon, but there is a very strong desire to hook up the backers and fans that are making this all come together!

@Sanael, I would personally love to include the Wet Nurse but honestly it isn't worth the risk. A lot of people find it highly offensive and while I do not share their opinion I do respect their feelings. This does not mean I am turning my back on her or any of the miniatures in the Kingdom Death range. Nor will I allow it to creatively restrict myself or the artists that work on the project at any point in the future.

Too low, I was expecting much higher for all of that. I had to double check to make sure I hadn't misread it. Crazy probably wasn;t the right word, but generous.

I appreciate a bargain like that may not occur again due to costs but I will be in for as many of the expansions I can manage.

Am I the only one that feels like the enthusiasm for this one is like a Bones, Part 2? I know that I can't wait to see what comes next.

The delays on the updates have tempered my enthusiasm (I blame Bryan for his I-will-wake-in-the-middle-of-the-night-to-post-updates-come-hell-or-high-water dedication during the Bones KS), and haven't been reading the KS comment stream, but yeah, it's been pretty fun to watch.
