So this is tangental at best, but I thought I'd post this here... I just ran across this kickstarter for an album that I think is pretty cool... It isn't fully traditional music (which I also think would be cool), but it is "inspired" by traditional Anglo-Saxon instruments and music.

The artist has decently long (~2 minute) excerpts from the majority of the songs on her homepage, which I think is pretty cool (I like "Rainstriker" and "Morwetha's Spinning Song"):

My favorite 'fantasy' music is a band I go to see a couple of times a year at the renfaire, http://www.cantigamusic.com/[/url'>Cantiga. Phenomenal musicianship and their flavors change as members move through. They've been gypsy tinged, classical, and flamenco tinged since I've been watching them. Can't say enough good things, Martha's Dragon and the new one 'Village in Motion' are stellar (they're all good, but those two are my favorites).

Hmm..

*looks at his Steeleye Span and Clannad discography*

I'm pretty good for "traditional" music, I've moved on to more Soundtrack orientated stuff like Two Steps From Hell, Phoenix Music and Audiomachine for background music in games (or will when I get to run a game again).

I'm a big fan of Luar Na Lubre, a traditonal Galician (Spanish) band. Here's O son do ar (Sound of the Air)

Sounds similar to Cantiga, if you swap out the guitar for a harp. My favorite incarnation was when they had the Peruvian charangista, Conrado Garcia. I aspire to have his right hand technique when I play strums on the guitar...
