klyons99
One player declared that he wanted to play a zebra barbarian, and another wants to play a llama psionicist (named "Dolly Llama"), so I've got a couple more kitbashes in the works for those. Please, oh please, post pics of these.
klawzie
I wonder where my Dolly Llama Llollies commercial project is... Hmm... Oh well. Can't find the storyboards right now, but I did find this sketch. (Provided as possible inspiration for your Dolly Llama. Though you probably have something cooler in mind. xD)
Jordan Peacock
I think I've just about exhausted my pony supply, and I'm on the final stretch for monsters. (I should have more than enough by now to populate a simple dungeon, especially when I've got Play-Doh to fall back on for instant "slimes" and "oozes" and "elementals" and such.) I've got a couple of special-request PC conversions in the works, and then some of the boring generic ponies (not a particularly useful flank mark or color scheme for me to work with) are being turned into more monsters: UNDEAD PONIES! Now, zombie ponies would be easy enough, but part of the specs for this scenario included "NO ZOMBIES." I checked with Wendy, however, and skeletons are just fine (as long as there's no gross gory gutsy stuff attached). So ... MY LITTLE UNDEAD PONY: Quick-and-easy is key here, so no carving off the mane/tail/ears, and it's basically just a simple surface paint job, extra-cartoony. I've got 6 of these to finish for a proper encounter. (If I get any more ponies on the cheap between now and the game, I might draft them as additional skellies. You can't have too many undead!) Discovery: Regular spray paint on one of these plastic ponies is a BAD IDEA. I really should have tested with a scrap of shaved-off plastic first. Despite it being matte paint, the paint cover ends up looking perpetually wet, and is sticky to the touch. Acrylic paint applied over it ends up having an unintended "crackle paint" effect (and not finely enough that I might have accidentally discovered a very cool effect). I MIGHT have had better luck if I'd used the extra-expensive spray paint that's meant for plastic, but I'm not going to rush out to buy a can just for something like this. I'm going with the stop-gap solution of "keep applying more acrylic paint" for now, to fill in those crackle gaps.
Nocturne
it maybe quick and easy but it certainly looks the part, I love it and plan on shamelessly stealing some of these ideas
Jordan Peacock
Herd of Skeleponies Here's the same basic idea, times six. This should have me pretty well set for a skelepony encounter.
Jordan Peacock
Dolly Llama, Psionicist One of my regular players (Scott V) came to me with a request: Rather than playing a PONY, he wanted a LLAMA -- a llama psionicist, who'd be named "Dolly Llama." Pun! This is a typical "clony" figure (one of the Twilight Sparkle re-colors), minus a horn, with a bobbed tail, and with an extended neck. The extended neck was built up with putty, as well as the mane extension and the drape. Llamas don't really have "manes," so I tried to compromise by making the mane/tail color scheme very close to the main body color. All of the sample pictures I could find of llamas make them look like they've got big eyelashes, hence why I painted this one with closed eyes and prominent lashes.
Jordan Peacock
Zig the Zebra Barbarian This is a custom pony character for my friend Chris Stadler -- a "zebra barbarian" made from one of the "brony" ponies ("Twilight Sky #18" from the Wave 6 "blind bag" ponies), with a shaved-down mane, and then putty to extend the neck, give a "mohawk" shape to the mane, and add armor. The weapon is made from a couple of spare plastic flails from a Warhammer "flagellants" sprue. (I used a conical head on a Dremel to make holes on each side of the mouth, then whittled down the handles of the flails so that they'd get as much surface contact area inside the conical holes as possible, in lieu of pinning on such a narrow piece.)
Jordan Peacock
Ah! I should've added BEADS. That would've been perfect. (I suppose I could go back and do that. Hmm. Scott V brought a Kings' Cake to the house at the last game, and left a packet of Mardi Gras beads and a little plastic baby token. I wonder if those beads might be small enough to work for this? He might be amused if I worked those in.) I wonder where my Dolly Llama Llollies commercial project is... Hmm... Oh well. Can't find the storyboards right now, but I did find this sketch.
The Basilisk
This is probably my favorite thread on the whole forum. Wonderful, WONDERFUL ingenuity and creativity on these little guys and gals, blows my 'humanized pony adventurer party' idea WAY out of the water. Hoping for more! Jordan Peacock
It isn't enough to just have a bunch of pony miniatures. I've got to be able to transport them ... in STYLE! Behold! My manly light-red Portable Warfare Sergeant Pony Transport Bag! Okay, so it's actually pink - "Chaos Pink" - but, hey, it's limited edition. Some day I need to track down a "Tactical Orange" bag for my Sedition Wars forces. (My other Sergeant bag is a more general-purpose "Gunmetal Grey." I'm also looking forward to getting my Reaper Savage Worlds bag -- with similar tray dimensions -- once the Deadlands Hell-on-Earth Kickstarter rewards go out.) The ponies and "pony friends" (or is that pony FIENDS?) take up about 2/3 of the bag, with 4 trays, though I've still got some gaps on a couple of the trays for "future expansion." The remainder of the bag gives me some room for transporting some of the lighter dungeon scenery such as plastic Warhammer Quest doors and Mage Knight 3D Dungeon tiles. That big blue monster in the front of the middle (white) tray is a "Staremander." (I was thinking about calling my scenario "Stables & Staremanders" -- and the theme for Necronomicon 2013 in Tampa this year is "Here Come the Dragons," so I figured a dragon-esque monster might fit. I got a wing-less Heroscape dragon as a scrap item from the owner of the Armadillo Game Shoppe, used some putty to fill in the wing holes and give it googly eyes, then painted it up in bright and cartoony colors.) The trays are made from pieces of foam-core board with scrap pluck-foam. My friends actually THROW THIS STUFF AWAY! Horrors! I got a whole bin-full of the stuff from one of my regular players before he could trash it, and I just glue it down with Tacky Glue to make ugly-but-serviceable spare trays. I've got more trays than I have space in Sergeant bags to hold them at this point, so I probably need to get some cardboard boxes of the appropriate dimensions for longer-term storage. (I don't want to trust them to just stacking on shelves indefinitely.) Anyway, at this stage, I've got plenty of critters (although I'm keeping an eye out for a suitable model to convert into a winged skunk monster -- a "Riddling Stynx" -- and it might be fun to make some "Timber Wolves" eventually), so now that the transport is taken care of, I'll need to focus on the dungeo-- er, I mean, STABLE where all of this will be taking place.

Naive Wolf Joshua
A while back I ran a game the Second Darkness Adventure Path, parts 1 & 2, using a customized rule set based on the April Fool's gag by Paizo, turning the game to "My Little Pathfinder: Friendship is Adventuring". To tell the truth it was the most fun I've had gaming in the past few years. And yes, we used the Blind Bag Ponies as well. Great job on the customs!
Dadcubed
Wow, simply, wow. I might have to duplicate for my daughters to explore their first dungeon together. Thank you for sharing your crazy idea made real :)
