cloudshaper2k
I was showing a young pony fan these pictures last night. She was quite impressed!

Jordan Peacock
So, I read your post to my husband, and showed him the pictures, and he wants to be a player at your table, hehe Well, if you're in mid-Florida, there's always a chance! I plan on running at least one session of this at Necronomicon 2013 in October, in Tampa, Florida: http://stonehill.org/necro.htm
Girot
My brain just melted. My step-daughter has been begging me to buy a whole pile of Bones Unicorns to convert into various ponies. She'll die making SQUEEE noises when I show her this thread. Well played, sir.

The Faceless King
My daughter has asked me about this, for her we got these: http://www.impactminiatures.net/KickStarter/PonyPack_Big.jpg They are from Impacts Chibi line they are starting up. We were going to use regular chibi monsters with them though. She was excited as she asked for the fire wings accessories and Impact added them shortly after. The nice thing is they'll fit on bases better, but I will grant you there isn't really any pose options. Now what you did with your stuff is brilliant! I know my daughter will love it when I show her later.

Yeah, I saw the Kickstarter, but I had my doubts about whether some of those characters were going to see production, what with the trademark issues and all. (I'm really surprised they didn't get hammered by Games Workshops lawyer brigade for their chibi-fimirs, for instance.) These would have worked better in terms of matching up with my existing scales of minis and such, but the PVC ponies were far cheaper, and even though I had to put them on larger (1.5" diameter) bases, I still had a number of "dungeon tile" sets that had been scaled for use with HeroClix/Mage Knight (and Warhammer Quest) from a while back. I managed to get a few grab-bag deals that worked out to less than $1 a pony, including shipping/handling, and Wal-Mart has "blind bag" ponies for $2 each -- a decent deal when I don't really care what I get in the bag, or when I find a site that gives me the numbers to look for so I KNOW what's in the bag ;)
The Faceless King
WotC went after them, twice, both over stupid stuff. Owlbear, Fishmen, etc. Never over any of the main stuff. Impact can't really afford to fight back, they hit a bunch of kickstarters at once actually. What bothers me about it though is that they pick and choose who to go after. I noted that they didn't hit Reaper even though Reaper had many similar figures. And wow, those ponies are certainly a lot cheaper. Good stuff :D
JackMann
On the other hand, WotC was remarkably reasonable in a number of cases, as with Demons and Devils, Eyes and Tentacles, and Rusty and Co, where they worked with the creators to make sure a product could still be shipped out. Then they killed Kaiju Combat over something truly stupid. Alas.
Jordan Peacock
A Rose, the Resurrectionist Modified "Roseluck" PVC pony toy, gothified with a bit of black acrylic paint, and based like the others -- with a plastic shovel added for a quick prop. This is to represent a recurring NPC who sells "slightly used" adventuring goods and unidentified potions out of a wagon just outside of Castle Clovenhoof. Frankensteed Monster No, I don't have a "Dr. Frankensteed" in my adventure (the lab coat and such would probably veer a little TOO far out of theme for the adventure), but I couldn't pass up the chance at another gratuitous pun. This was originally a "Shining Armor" pony -- I ended up getting a box of several of these guys on the cheap as part of a grab bag deal, but it took a LONG time for the box to arrive. It's just painted up with a grey-green coat, with some Apoxie Sculpt "bolts" on sides of the neck (with some wire pinning so they don't just fall off with regular handling), and "stitches" painted on. The Spooky Mark on the flank is supposed to be some sort of "Jacob's Ladder" weird-science gizmo. Sure, that's pushing it for fantasy, but I'll forgive myself a few anachronisms for the sake of a gag. (Not that I expect my players will be able to RECOGNIZE it anyway. It seemed like a better idea in my head than in the actual execution.) I wanted to make a "Bride of Frankensteed" as well, but the mane conversion would've been a lot more work, and I've been pretty busy as of late.
Jordan Peacock
Dust Bunnies! I had a weird idea for a pun-infested encounter, so I grabbed some Clix bases, applied some putty, and made some little monsters. They're a bit unconventional in that rather than making damage-based attacks, they attempt to attack en masse and SUFFOCATE their victims. (In Savage Worlds terms, this means making a grapple attack, exploiting gang-up bonuses whenever possible, and then forcing the victim to make an opposed Vigor check to avoid taking a Fatigue level from suffocation.) I used the same monsters for my current Wonderland No More campaign, but there the dust bunnies' "multiply" ability got a bit out of hand, so I really needed to rein that in. They're bad enough even without it. :D
