I'm actually thinking about not playing in our next league cycle. I still enjoy playing it, but I want to play the Living Card Game too and I only have enough time for one. There's not a single group in town playing the LCG, so if I want to do it, it looks like I'm going to have to organize it all too. I've got 2-3 guys willing to play, so I think I'll give it a try for a while and see how it goes.

I've faced all except for the Hawk.

I've played 2 league games and 1 tournament match against the Lambda. 3 different players. None of them really liked it. 2 of them used it as a support model and didn't feel like it did enough. The other used 2 of them as offensive platforms and didn't like them much either. I won all 3 matches.

The lone B-Wing I faced was along w/3 X-Wings and honestly, I got killed so fast and brutally that I couldn't tell you if that ship was effective or not. He had Biggs so I had to do all of my shooting at him. I bought 3 of them yesterday though, just b/c they were always my favorite ship from the movies.

I played a tournament match vs 4 TIE Bombers and liked what they did. If I flew Imps that's what I'd be playing right now. You shoot a bunch of missiles, then drop some mines as your cross paths. Its pretty brutal. I lost a close game to this fleet using Han and 2 Y-Wings, which is about the toughest match-up this squadron has due to its turrets.

No comment about imperial aces?

I've got 3 interceptors already, so I'm not sure...the box makes me want 2 sets to get the sweet PS 6 pilots but I'm not sure I can justify 7 of the same ship (although I suppose I have seven TIEs).

Granted, I find myself gravitating to larger 200 point games so I might be alright. Anyone else on the fence?

I really don't like the direction they're going with those. If they just wanted to release ships with custom paint jobs all by themselves I'd be fine with it. People who wanted them could buy them, those who don't can skip 'em. But putting new Pilot Talents and Upgrades in there sucks. Its a money grab.

Its been pretty obvious that FFG is gonna pull this kind of crap pretty often though, so our league already decided to allow proxies for any card before Wave 3 came out. So I'll still be able to use Hull Upgrade on Chewie w/out having to drop $30 for this box.

I can't decide if I like the idea or not. How would you prefer an introduction of new pilots and cards for older ships? I was thinking as a card like booster, but it doesn't have much visual appeal to new players.it would be easier to keep in production, wave 1 seems out of print again.

Cash grab is a bit over zealous maybe, certainly a shrewd move. I guess the real limitation is the number of ships available in the series, we'll have to see them branch out into more and more obscure stuff in the next waves (tie defender, rendar's outrider), which is fine by me but may not be commercially appealing. If they want the game to keep moving forward we might have yo support these products.

I'm with you, no issues proxying, and I wouldn't have any issue with someone printing the cards out and using them on ships they already own. I might buy one to get the contents.

I got to play with a trio of B-Wings the other night and absolutely loved them! You have to use the Advanced Sensors upgrade though, otherwise they're subpar IMO. Lots of people like to slap a Heavy Laser Cannon and Fire Control System upgrade on them, but that just makes them big, lumbering, easy targets. AS gives them the ability to perform their Action before they move, which turns them into agile knife-fighters. Here are a few of the tricks you can pull off with them:

  • If your movement is going to be blocked, you can perform your TL/Focus first, then move into B2B. Neither of you can shoot at each other, but you could TL another ship and shoot at it.
  • Barrel Rolling before you move is amazing! There are so many opportunities to do this and put yourself in a position where you can shoot at a ship while being outside of their firing arc.
  • You can perform your action before doing a K-Turn, which again is pretty amazing! Its pretty sweet being able to TL a model outside your arc, then whip around and shoot it.

My one suggestion is that you use the Dagger Squadron B-Wings. Their higher PS lets you move after all of the swarms, so you know exactly where everyone will be and get maximum efficiency from the Sensors.

Of course the stuffty part about it is that they only packaged the Adv Sensor card in w/the Shuttle, not the B-Wing. Luckily we allow proxy cards in our league, so I use those. Most of you just play friendly games so you should be OK to proxy too. No way I'm gonna spend $90 on those PoS shuttles just for those cards.
