77022: Michelle, Female Human Ranger

I've got some scenic bases in the mail so I wanted to experiment with them before I use them on my winter exchange. I chopped off Michelle's broccoli base with a hobby knife then decided to replace her wobbly weapons with metal ones. I didn't have two matching swords so she gets sword and dagger instead. The sword was SOOO easy to mod. I just chopped off the old one, drilled straight through her hand with a drillbit about 1 size too small. I then used the bendy nature of Bones to my benefit and just wiggled it in there and through. The sword is held entirely by her rubber-band hands - there's not a drop of glue. The dagger was slightly more problematic because it had a pommel that was quite a bit bigger than the grip. I had to cut off the pommel (and promptly lost it), so I glued the original pommel back on. The dagger is secure as well - it might have a little bit of glue, but it's mostly friction as well.

There's something weird/wrong with her right eye. Anyone else have this problem? There's zero chance I can fix the sculpt without ruining it, and I probably can't do good enough paint plastic surgery, so she might get an eye patch, or magical jewel-eye or something.

Michelle has now been pinned to her base. I screwed up a bit on her right leg (left side of picture) and brushed the edge of the plastic. I'll be attempting to cover that up with liquid greenstuff. Her left leg has very thin ankles so I ran the pin through her heel and was very careful not to screw up again. I got my resin bases from Back 2 Base-ix. I didn't know how hard they'd be to work with, but much to my surprise it was mega-easy! I had to reposition her left leg a bit, but this was no problem due to the flexible nature of Bones.

She looks pretty great on that base! Nice work on all the conversions, too. I'm actually working on the metal version of this mini right now, and I can tell you, that obscured eye is a pain in the patootie. The bones version looks like it has even less of the eye visible than the metal, so good luck with that one. I do like the eyepatch idea!

Michelle just screams wilderness ranger to me, so I had to get her a woodlands base. As for where the bases came from, my order from http://www.back2base-ix.com/ arrived today. Even with shipping from Australia, it was still pretty cheap, and more importantly, the only option that had all the varieties of bases I wanted in 25mm. There are lots of companies in the US, Europe and Australia making bases at 30mm, if that's your preference.

Nice tip with the weapon swap! I imagine I might be doing a lot of this with future Bones KS minis. The figure looks like it works really nicely for having one boot perched up on a stump or other object. I like to do that sort of pose on occasion so that bases needn't always be FLAT (BORING) GROUND, but it's rare that I can do that and have it look natural. That's a plus for this figure, as far as I'm concerned. :)

I have no clue what's going on with that cloak. The back of the cloak has the reverse of that, and it's huge. I thought about carving off the weirdness, but the inside would be tricky. Here's the legendary encounters from the back:

I'm going to assume that the cloak was originally two pieces of fabric, then sewn together in a decorative fashion.

The regular pose actually looks a bit weird to me, so I wanted to straighten her up a bit. When pinning was taken into account, I had to do something different with the leg so that the pins wouldn't be at nearly 90 degree to each other. Plus I just got new bases and wanted to try them out :)

She's been greenstuffed and primed, but is on the end of the queue, so it will probably be a while before there's any progress in this thread.
