Here's another one that I finished off last week. My first attempt at freehand shield work. It's a bit crappy but it will do!

I think you did a great job on the shield! We all start somewhere. There are some out there who can't pluck up the courage to try their skill at free hand, and the only way to get better is to just do it. It's sometimes very hard for me to start, especially after I've spent so much time on a mini blending and getting everything perfect. I'm always afraid that my novice free hand work will muck it up. I do find though that everytime I try, I have a better understanding on what I should have done. That my friend is whats called improvement! You did an excellent job all around, nice work.

The art on the shield looks fine to me keep in mind the accual art of shields was so stylized that it was often unrecognisable, that and they had to be able to reaply the hereldry very quickly they did get beat on quite often.

I love the rust and aging on the metal parts...how do you do that?! Dark brown wash??
