'Hello there!'

'I'm an Elf, and I'm going to drive Aku-chan insane because he dared to explore the mysterious and forbidden art of NMM!'

Didn't fancy working on anything on my table today, so I dug out one of my old L2PKs.

He's basecoated (although I'm now noticing a few spots I missed), stuck fairly close to the instructions but I changed his legs, I'm convinced the armour ends just above the knee, then there's a bit of gold trim, then trousers (which I've decided are Ashen Blue).

PS - making a fleshtone out of yellow, brown and white blew my tiny little mind!

As it seems to be the custom to state this - NMM IS HARD!

Had a bit of time today so I thought I'd try painting the leg armour:-

...It did not go very well.

I had a reasonably good idea of what I was doing, but sadly not the painting skills to match.

I'll stick at it though. I might get better, maybe, in the fullness of time.

I think that was where I had the most trouble, the planes are kind of crazy. It doesn't look too bad, but you might want to go back in to smooth things over. If a transition is too stark, you can mix a bit of each tone and water it down, lay it on the stark line to smooth it over. Pretty much the only thing I leave crisp on nmm is the white highest highlight.

Yeah, one mistake (of many) I made was going over each layer until it was solid, I'll try smoothing them out before I move on to the next leg.

Apply the lessons of nmm to everything you paint and you will love the results. Smoother blends and better use of light and shadow.

Its already giving me ideas about how to add a bit of omph when I paint normal metallics.
