I backed the first Zombicide game. I was a bit disappointed in the minis. Certainly nice as game pieces, but I doubt I'll be painting them up.

Haven't tried playing yet though, so I'm pretty iffy on the expansion.

It is one of the best games I have played. My wife prefers cooperative play and it is all of that.

What is disappointing about the minis?

Part of it is the plastic that was used. It just looks and feels cheap. There are a number of minis with a lean to them that shouldnt and some wonky bases along with bendy sword syndrome. I know that's a funny sounding criticism from someone who happily backed the Bones Minis, but there is a difference there.

Putting the above issues aside, sculpt wise the character minis arent bad, neither are fatty or the abomination, but with most of the zombies there's something about the proportions that seem a bit "off" to me that gives them a very skinny, weedy look.

To be honest, I think it's that they tried to make them look realistic, without the slightly oversized heads/hands etc that we're used to seeing from a lot of mini companies these days. That's okay for human characters, but on monsters it makes them look nonthreatening and less imposing.

My opinion. Yours may vary, but as I said earlier, something about them just doesn't inspire me to paint them. But I think as game pieces they'd be a lot of fun to use.

A lot of people were put off that the game was in retail stores before their KS orders were fulfilled and they sold out at gencon before people could pick up their order

The GenCon thing doesn't bother me at all. I've no doubt it was a very busy and confusing situation for everybody. The retail thing, well that depends. Was there any final word if the game was actually shipped to retailers before backers? Or was it just that some retailers received their orders while backers were still waiting for delivery. That's two very different things.

I've found delivery times can vary greatly. I've had mini orders ship from from Florida that took 6 weeks to reach me here on Canada's West coast, while I've also once had a mini order ship from England to here in 3 days.

In any case, I didn't back to be first. I backed for a good deal with exclusives on what looked to be an interesting game... With minis!

I am having some moral issues with this one as I don't think it is what KickStarter is all about. Basically, they are just pre selling a game to us and going around our FLGS. If all game/miniature companies did this, how will this affect our local stores?

That being said, here's my problem. I didn't back the fist project but waited to buy it locally. My gaming group loves the game and we are kicking ourselves at missing out on the exclusive figures to make the game better.

Which is the way to go? Buy the KickStarter for all the extra stuff or support where I play games?

I really don't know.

Or alternatively, contact the KS organizer with your concern and ask if it's possible for them to make retailer levels (like reaper did on Bones), so you can get the same goodies through your retailer.

If they agree to that you can have your cake and eat it too.

It looks as though CMON is not in synch with Guillotine Games...

Hello, here Percy from Guillotine Games.

There will not be any Kickstarter campaign in the next 14 days. I can assure you this with no hesitation. The info contained in the podcast you are referring are wrong and we informed the podcaster. The expansion Toxic City Mall is not a standalone game. All the official info on our games are given through our website and our facebook page. At the right moment and time we will upload the rules and we will inform you when to prepare yourself for the launch of our expansion.I am sorry for the confusion, but please rely only on our official sources.

Regards and many thanks

Percy

While it's great some people have FLGS, some people do not. I'm stuck buying stuff at an internet wholesaler like FRP or paying MSRP direct from places like Reaper. This has come up before, but I feel compelled to speak up for those who don't benefit from all this FLGS compassion.
