Alternates and replacements for Discontinued Paint colors

Is there an equivilent for Porcelain Rose? I am almost out and it is one of my favorite colors.

I did some color mixing this evening but could not come up with anything to match the Rose triad. I came close with Rust Brown and white, but it is too yellow. I'd try something redder, like the Terracotta triad (or current equivalent) but I don't own those colors.

Without derailing the topic too much, starting around September, it's been a really terrible four months with a series of Very Bad Things, and I just now got my motivation, hobby space and painting stuff back together, like...yesterday. Pleased to be back, though!

Thanks, it feels good to be back, like a step in a normal more routine direction. I quit painting, therefore I quit talking about painting, and when I'd poke around here, I'd feel crummy that I was ignoring it. Then Sandy hit, and I *couldn't* paint, which is its own whole story, so being around the community made me feel even crummier. But, everything's moving forward, so I came back right away :)

To stay on topic, I really hope the Chronoscope paints come out soon. I think I may have ordered them in the KS, but maybe canceled them last minute or something, in favor of the shirt. I was looking over my selection, and the only good pinks I have, the only ones I use regularly are discontinued Reaper, and a GW. One day I'll paint a pretty pretty pink princess, dammit. One day.

Thanks Inarah. Maybe if there is enough of a call for these colors, Reaper will be kind

I was wondering what our lovely purple spider was up to. I "got to know" a lot of members through following and participating in the Kickstarter comments and either I don't recognize them under their forum name and avatar or they don't post here much/not often, so it always makes me happy to see "someone I know" back. And even better when things are getting back into a normal pace. (TL;DR: WB Arachne!)

On topic - thanks for this thread! It'll be great to reference back to come March-ish!

Going to thread-o-mancy this now that a lot more new paints have come out in the various KS and RCon editions..  other than spring Green showing back up at RCon and red and green liner back in Bones 3, anything else match up now?  How does deep indigo compare to the old indigos?

Anne has a firm policy that she won't duplicate a previous/existing colour under a different name. So when Volcano Brown (as an example) came back, it was the same as the previous Volcano Brown. If a paint has a different name, it's in some way different than others of that colour. (Differences can include base the pigment is mixed into, pigment mixes, and/or finish, and probably other stuff I don't know enough to know about.) Since Heavy Gear was a license I suspect that the previous names can't be used, so I don't know if that could create a situation where that policy might get reconsidered. More likely she'd aim to mix a new paint that serves a similar function but isn't identical.

I seem to recall her saying that the new NMM gold was a good alternative for Terra Nova Tundra and possibly a few other substitutions, but that's alternative in use, not alternative as in if you used this colour on your army you wouldn't notice any difference in colour if you started using that colour.

Most of the studio artists were pretty sad about the demise of Heavy Gear. It never really caught on sales-wise I don't think, but almost all of us had one or four colours from the line we found very useful for one thing or another. Red Dust is my secret weapon for highlighting reds, I'll have to mix up a substitute for myself once my stash runs out. (Which is not impossible, basically my secret weapon for highlighting reds is to use an orange + white mix so you're not going too orange or too pink, it's just nice to have something ready to go in a bottle for colours that get used often.)
