Qwyksilver
Then unless someone else really wants to be a thief, I will play the object recovery and acquisition specialist.
Loim
I'm just here to kill you all horribly in a giant slaughter that culminates with 15 delayed blast fireballs detonating all at the same time, centered on Shiqra's character. Play whatever you want. Regardless of the class makeup I assure you it won't be the strangest I've ever run, I can make it work.
Shiqra
I should have known something was up when Loim told me about this pbp... I'm still thinking of basic fighter...looking at the books for a fun race option. Maybe gnome...
haldir
Thinking about a monsterous ranger. I forgot about the humanoid book. I still am not gonna divert too far into the 2nd edition "aftermarket" thou. Probably be a standard race thou. I'll work on this more this weekend. Also anything special in regards to character creation that hasn't already been posted??
Loim
Haldir I should have all pertinent information up about the character creation. I'm still working on a few things for the map/background. I'll try to have those up this afternoon. Humanoids are pretty prevalent, so if you want to roll a monstrous ranger it's cool. I don't use much aftermarket stuff to be honest. That's why I ended up with my own world with it's own rules. I try to stick as closely to the core game as I can(DMG/PHB/MM). Some of the most fun I've ever had roleplaying was my Kobold Fighter/Cleric with delusions of Paladinhood, and an unfortunate tendency to create alchemical incendiaries (regardless of what he was actually trying to make).
haldir
I guess when I put aftermarket I meant the other books that TSR (jeesh.....ha ha) released for 2nd ed. I may look into the ranger handbook but chances are that I won't. I wanna keep this simple.
Kacir
Okay, guys, my char is complete, pending final approval. Meet Eldan Steelhorn, a young 7'4" minotaur priest (thats right, priest) that weighs in around 460 lbs. Eldan tends to the gruff and can seem somewhat standoffish. However, those that take the time to befriend him will find a fierce ally. Raised from infancy by the McRae family, Eldan's history is shrouded in mystery and while he has come to accept this fact, an inner fire burns to find a revealed past. Through diligent work and many hours perfecting meditation techniques used by followers of The Knight, Eldan has been able to control his chaotic nature, for the most part, and has been accepted into the order's healers. Taking his role as a healer seriously, Eldan will go to great lengths to help those in need. He will, however, pursue, with great prejudice, those he considers enemies or a threat. Shiqra
Okay - my character is half complete (my dice are at home, and I have an all-nighter to pull here); pending approval I'll go ahead and roll her stats, gear, etc. Merrillee Borehame is a 3'3" gnome fighter with delusions of grandeur - literally. Due to an unfortunate accident involving pilfered potions and nature magic gone awry, she once grew to giant size, and, unused to her new body, rampaged through a small village, flattening a chicken coop, a flock of ill-tempered geese, and one unfortunate old cow. Eventually her body returned to its normal gnomish size, but her mind never did. After working off the damages she owed to the villagers, she abandoned her study of mole linguistics and took up swordfighting, determined to go forth and seek her fortune as a mighty fighter... buglips*the*goblin
So, like, am I supposed to fill in the sheet and send it to Loim? I'm not sure how one of these things works. Will I just scribble my info for my own record-keeping?
haldir
Pretty much. it's just like regular D&D, except the DM has a really big DM screen I'm off till next Sunday (finally!) so I'll work on my character this week & have to yah by Friday. buglips*the*goblin
So will that pdf of the character sheet save the info? It told me it wouldn't, which is why I haven't done my homework yet.
Loim
I use Foxit, and it works just fine. You might try that.
Shiqra
I've got Ghostscript/GSview (free open source pdf reader/writer) on one of the old lab computers - kinda stripped down, but gets the job done. Foxit looks spiffier - might have to try that... Edited February 6, 2013 by Shiqra
