But, I don't think the sword hilts came out successfully, that's the only thing, feel like if you maybe rework them more simply it might look better, not sure.

Area from the thumb up is the prob I think.

I love, love, love this composition! Your work literally has added this mini to my list of 'to be acquired'.

The only thing I'd encourage you to do is focus more on enhancing your basing b/c your painting skills are too good to stick with a broccoli base.

My favorite complement is when my paint job makes someone want to buy the mini :)

Yeah, yeah. I guess I need to learn basing. I've never done any before and I dislike most of it. I guess I need to hunt down some examples of the few I do like and work from there. I smell a new project thread...

Greens are just the recipe from kit 3. Olive Green shaded with some Russet Brown, maybe lightened with Linen. I'll double check when I get home if you don't have the kit instructions. I did go back in and glaze with the brown to get deeper shadows. Struggled with the highlights, I never thin the white correctly and get very clear brush strokes with a hard edge. So the tunic was target-glazed down a couple times with mid-tone to even things out (just the transitions). Ditto the chest piece, and there's still a pretty noticeable transition I'd like to glaze down a bit more in the middle. I also wanted to freehand, but my attempts were pretty bad on paper, so I scrapped it.

Bedroll...again I'd have to check the recipe from the instructions. I based all the 'dark leathers' per instruction, it was either Ruddy or Mahogany. Then when I was painting the leathers up into Oiled, I took the leather highlight and started the bedroll from there, leaving the base coat as a liner. Then worked that Oiled up into Linen with Linen as the high on the bedroll. I took that from Wappel's Rivet Wars instruction video (on the RW KS updates), re-using tones from around the mini. I should have taken that highlight back to the leather for a few super-highs for contrast.

The skin was fair skin triad, except I didn't have the midtone so I faked it. Then pushed it up with some Linen, I like elves to be pale. Should've used a lighter eye liner, I think.

Thanks for the kind comments and constructive criticisms. I love it all. I think my favorite parts are the gold on the gauntlets and the hair. Finally starting to get the hang of a few things.

Oo, like the look of the steel, different than I would do it so cool to see it come out looking like steel but by using a different style. Nice :-) that elf skin tone is great too.

I love everything about the mini, but I think the steel parts are still the weakest. Not that they are not good, but the gold elements are clearly superior to the steel.

You cancel each other out!

What we need here is some consensus.

One of the great secrets of basing is a lot of stuff is allready done for you, I rarely scratch build anymore unless I'm in the mood and even then it's rarely 100% scratch. Great basing is really just composistion of random stuff you have laying around and something like tuffs to hide the mess. Premade bases like the ones sceret weapon makes are aweosme, not really expensive and make your mini look great for only like $2.

Note if you have any aspirations of playing Warlord with Reaper minis you will need square bases (Scibor Miniatures & Back-2-Base-ix produce the ones I'm using) of 25,40 & 50mm.

Another alternative (for gaming) is Likto make clear bases - so no basing required. :)

Still much as I dislike extravagant bases, basing is an important part of miniature presentation so getting it right is a step up on the painting ladder.

You need to think of the minis as they are, a moment in time, instead of as something that needs to blend into each environment it is put in.

With Bones filling out my game ranks, this is very likely the route my metals are headed. Instead of "gotta rush through and deploy", they instead become a treat where I can push my limits and see how cool it can be.

I even terrained the exchange mini I sent out.

I had thought of maybe using some for Warlord at some point (since I already have a decent start on a Nefsokar force). I'd have to do a lot of convincing, not a big gaming community here. And I'd probably have to paint all the minis for everyone. There's a reason I'm paint-focused :)
