CripDyke
so, i've got these ninja that i really do want to be hide-in-shadows colors. they're the AEG ninjas just rereleased by Reaper. I actually have the AEG release, but you can look at the pics of them here and here. So, i've base coated them black but just have no idea where to go from here... in real life, they'd be flat black all over - even the metal would be black-forged. So how do i do that & yet actually give them a paint job? my imagination is failing me. any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Hells_Clown
Actually black is not the best color to use if you want to hide in the dark. Dark blues or grays work better. I'd mix up some dark blue and black and use that as a base then highlight with the dark blue. I'm trying that with a horse I'm working on. Hope that helps. To further reinforce this, pure black dye would have been extremely difficult to manufacture if at all. According to my references, ninja would more likely have worn very deep browns, blues or greys rather than pure black, as this was more readily available to them (coming from the commoner or Bonge cast of Japan). johnnyxxl
if you used a darkenough blue black you should make a good shade on the black to work your ninja to a nice looking figure.

Damon. Well, though some traditional dying in Japan is nearly complete black, slightly off-black (blue or brown) will be good. But truly historically speaking, Ninja never wore famous "Ninja-look". They were spys and assassins. If they were wearing or even carrying strange clothes, their identity would have been revealed very easily. But this is a fantasy world anyway. **fixed the quote tag-cbs** Edited December 7, 2003 by ladystorm
coogle
Well, though some traditional dying in Japan I thought that was having your head chopped off, and being eviserated.
CripDyke
i appreciate the discussion about 'historic' ninja, but it's not particularly relevant here. I'm really just looking for a color scheme that looks good without looking like it comes from Mortal Combat. Does anyone have any links to well painted ninja in subdued and/or good-for-hiding colors?? Any specific color schemes?
