Dungeon Crawler Kraken KickStartero

Sounds rough. If you want to try and fix it, maybe take a picture of the kraken and post it, I'm sure more experienced forumites could give you some solid advice.

Saw it and reglue probably as you can fix the gap with GS but you'll need to sculpt the textures.

Though I'm sure Grayhaze will take care of you. From the last KS update it seams like the factory is going to help out.

Hey Talae,

We can send you a replacement for the Kraken, it sounds like it was a bad glue job and if it was screwed in place like that it won't be easy to dislodge and fix yourself.  Just contact us on KS, so we can keep it all in one place, and we'll get that sorted out.

I must admit this is the first I've heard of the bases being rough, everything I've seen up to this point has been very well done.  Keep in touch and we'll get through this as best we can.

Thanks for the response Greyhaze. I will send the info to you directly through Kickstarter.

I am tempted to try and fix it, but I don't even own GS and the sculpting part intimidates me.

I'm doing one of the custom painted Krakens for the Kickstarter, and found a similar gap between the head and body, and the main body and the base. Mine was not screwed together, so that could certainly complicate things for you, but I found it very easy to pop the Kraken apart and off its base, and then clean out the excess glue and trim a few parts down and re-assemble it with a much tighter fit. I would be happy to post in more detail if it would help.

I also received some blank bases and mine were pretty clean- none of the 20 small or 2x2 bases had any flash, and only 2/10 3x3 bases had some.

Mine had some glue issues as well, but since I thinking of sculpting water around it, that will hide any gaps.  Overall I am very happy with the quality.

My order (mostly unpainted) arrived yesterday. Everything was intact, until I touched the painted mermaid- she broke off her base immediately.  It looks like she was painted and then glued. I'm pretty sure I can repair it.

Overall, I'm happy - and by sheer luck my Sunday game was postponed a week- so the Mermaid will be facing the players next week.  Tentacles to follow.

I had the same problem with mermaids, one was broken, so I tested a second and it snapped off with a very small amount of pressure. My kraken also had a couple loose tentacles. They don't look to be hard fixes.

My box was also severely banged up. I have had things get damaged in the mail before, but this was ridiculous. The box looks like someone played football with it. Based on the high numbers of people complaining of damaged items, and photos of damaged boxes, it is hard to believe the damage wasn't deliberate.

Other than box damage and the weak joints caused by gluing painted surfaces, the only other issues I found is the warping of weapons similar to what happens to bones. I haven't tried to fix it with boiling water yet, but I don't anticipate any problems with that.

It's a shame that the damage has put a dark cloud over this. The minis are fantastic, and the kraken is huge. I'm going to keep it hidden until I can use it in a game, it will freak players out when I drop it on the table. I also went in for the bases they offered. I got 240 (I think) round bases of various sizes (1", 2" and 3") for $50, they look good and were a great deal.

The boxes were stuffed, by the factory, in to larger, weak boxes.  They then went through stacking and shipping.  I was not happy with their process.

Glad that there is still some good coming of this.

They are shipping with everything else in pledge order, I don't have tracking for everything unfortunately.  However, I do know I submitted your order in the last batch, so your order should be going out soon.

Just heads up, we ran out of Unpainted Krakens pretty early (they were supposed to be with the Painted shipment), we're currently shipping KSX Krakens to make up for that rather than nothing while we wait for the rest of our order to be fulfilled.  So, although you'll get some Unpainted Tentacles, you will get a KSX Kraken and KSX Massive Tentacle for now to tide you over.

So......waitaminute.....really? You're sending out a painted one now and a unpainted later?

Wow, talk about above and beyond! Thanks Grey! It really isn't necessary to do a second, especially if it's going to cost you tons extra to ship again.
