PAX East is in Boston, Massachusettes, USA March 22-24, 2013

We need ONE volunteer who can get to the convention under their own power to help us work the booth and/or Paint and Take. The best candidates for the position will be able to help on the 21st and 25th also.

We will provide:

  • Badge in to the show as an Exhibitor.
  • Food before/after work shifts as necessary
  • Hotel room (shared with 1 other adult)
  • Time during the show to play and shop (an hour or two each day)
  • Time to hang with our staff and guests
  • Transportation to and from the con&hotel&meals if necessary
  • Product as additional compensation for time

We need:

  • A commitment to be there to help during the show, and with booth set-up and tear down OR to know with certainty that you will not be available for specific times
  • A decent working knowledge of our product, how to assemble, paint, etc.
  • Friendly and well groomed volunteers
  • you to get to us in Boston at our hotel or the Convention Center.

Volunteers please send a PM to me. I will select based on how well I know you and whether I believe you will be a good "face" for Reaper in my stead as I cannot myself be there this year*.

*That's smack in the middle of planning and real fulfillment, and my responsibilities prevent me from traveling for the duration.

It's about a 9 hour drive for me. I already have my vacation spent for the year so I can't add the 3 days I'd need for this. Or I'd be up for it. Might have to have a word with the boss. *rubs hands together*

Edit: 6 hour drive.

Oh, oh me me! Except with booth set up. And tear down too. Not sure about my assembly and painting skills either. Not so sure about well groomed either, heard something about hippy-long hair the other day. Getting to Boston may be problematic too. Uh, never mind! Sorry to disturb.

If I lived close enough to be convenient I'd do this just to find out if I'm as good at making people buy things in person as I am over the interwebz. I'd even show up well-groomed, silly requirement that it is. I'd leave the stanky shoes at home.

People would come back from PAX and be all like "Wow, Buglips sold everything!"

"Why are you all wearing sacks?"

"He sold our clothes!"

"Where's the booth?"

"Sold!"

"Where's the new guy I sent out to get some experience?"

*somewhere in the trunk of a car*

thump thump

"Lemme out! Lemme out! Somebody help!"

"Quiet, boy. I boughtcha, and imma keepya."

As we are both former PAX enforcers, I had a very serious talk with my girlfriend about volunteering. We figured with the hotel cost covered and some meals taken care of, it would only be a couple hundred more than driving to PAX Prime. But then the big question arose... what to do with the kids. And bam, dreams dashed ::(:

Buglips, I had actually suggested you as an option, and we decided to put out an open call rather than target specifics. Mostly because, living in Texas, my perspective of what's "far away" is very different from new Englanders. it takes longer than 12 hours to go from the east border to the west border of our state, and up there, that gets you ... to our state. SO I was going, The Carolina's are pretty close, we can ask them. Vancouver's by the Great Lakes. That's just a short drive.

Short Drive being defined as less than sunrise-sunset....

I'm actually closer to Boston than you are, matter of fact. Heck, Boston's closer than Toronto. I'd be tied up that week anyway, though. I'm probably going to be tied up into June. Busy year in Buglipsia.

But it's nice that you thought of me as a possible ReaperBryan understudy.

ETA: Also, I have many years of carnival/fair experience - and not just as a sideshow! Lemme tell ya, after a whole day in the hot, scorching sun, with no sleep in three days, running a Pikachu dart game next to a cotton candy booth - being shot by kids with bad (or good) aim - and wearing a coin apron made up of like 200 pounds of stuck together canadian coins?

PAX would seem like a vacation.

I still have nightmares about sticky-faced evil children with their gooey, candy-smeared money. Especially that little guy who shot me in the eye and giggled maniacally.
