klyons99
That's a great red, can't wait to see how you build this one up! As for red dragon names, over the years we've come across: - Ruber (Latin for red) - Rohal (Norse, maybe Old Norse? for red) - Kokino (Greek for red) - Aka (Japanese for red) ... See a theme yet? For the "explosive" name, might try a variation on Impatus, which is (if I remember correctly, and I may not...) Latin for explosion. ShadowRaven
doesn't really look like an 'Aka' to me maybe an "alevler' which is Turkish for flames
Metalchaos
I like this approaches to create a new name. I’ve translated «flame blast» from English to Tagalog and I got «apoy sabog» then I joined the two words and got Apoyzabokk, could be a good name for a wizard. I’ve also translated «angry burst» from English to Spanish and I got «ráfaga rabia» or Rafagabia, sounds nice for a sorceress. Then, I though of Carbonyzor. I prefer the last one, what do you think?
ShadowRaven
Carbonyzer...just the right amount of pun. Sounds good to me

Dadcubed
If that is the army painter red spray I have used it too for my Khador force. Very nice in the right temp / humidity conditions. That dragon is looking super ace. Well done for taking all the time in prep and undercoating you will have a much finder model because of it. Looking forward to seeing more. Do you have a base to hold the model while you paint it?

Do you have a base to hold the model while you paint it? There is a white Army Painter primer base, but the red base coat is Liquitex. They produce a nice range of water base acrylic spray paint. It doesn't have a base at the moment. I simply lay the model on the spongy foam while I plaint it. I will mount it on a base after it's finish and sealed. I could find more unpainted cracks while painting the belly plates. I've sprayed some aerosol paint in a disposable plastic container to get a small quantity of brush on red color. This way, I can patch the cracks with the same red color using an old brush. I'll be using a No. 4 brush for the large areas and a 10/0 brush for the smaller areas, spots and details.
ShadowRaven
coming along nicely. I may have to save my nickels and get me one of these guys for my shelf-o-doom
Metalchaos
I started to apply the first brown shading wash. I keep the model upside down so that most of the paint pigments stay under the scales when the water is dry. It doesn't show much for now, but during the week I will apply several successive washes to get a gradient shading. ShadowRaven
yeah, not showing much, but I suspect that as the layers build it will look pretty darn nice.
Corporea
That's one brilliant red! Very smart to use the spray paint in the tupperware! This is why I love this forum- so many cool ideas!
Seer of the Pitt
I’ve started to painting Cinder… in fact, I’m looking for a new name for the Dragon, I’m open for suggestions, any explosive idea? Here’s the result so far, a very smooth layer of pure red. I first applied a white primer to help the red color be very bright. I was worried about loosing some of the details but Liquitex spray paint flowed perfectly in all the cracks and gaps. The paint was falling in droplets and appeared like small spots, but it subsequently spreading to for a uniform layer. Cinder 32.jpg Cinder 33.jpg Cinder 34.jpg That's a really good red basecoat, Metalchaos. This link might prove to be useful if you're willing to click through to an appropriate sounding name. http://grey-starr.ca/Tools/random-male-dragon-name.htm
