Delayed Drake KS

I'm pretty steamed about this....I bought in for a fairly large amount.

Well, of course the whistleblower-"dream is over" post is all hearsay. But I also think that as so much of post was validated by the update, I will tend towards believing the rest of it as well.

 

Benji had a partner, yes. But then again, the way he writes the update, "I see ..." and there is no mention of other employees or partners. only the use of "we". The "Dream is Over" poster stated quite clearly that Benji was the only one left, and has been so for a time.

 

Of course he *might* be outsourcing designers in which case I certainly am looking forward to seeing some preliminaries shown soon simply to stave off the stuffestorm heading his way.

 

I believe this project as of now is a compete trainwreck that is going nowhere, and has been so for quite some time.

 

But I desperately want and hope to be proven wrong.

I'm not in the camp of the guy on their forum saying random stuff, he just seams to be pulling figures out of the air, but considering the lack of communication I'm chalking this up as a loss until I see more commitment from Benji. 

 

If there appears to be a change over the next few weeks I'll reconsider doing a charge back for KS2, not sure about KS1 as I got about 80% of my order and most of the stuff I haven't gotten were freebee's so--in all honesty--I probably got my moneys worth and it might be more hassle then it would be worth the get the $50 or so of the KS1 pledge I haven't gotten yet if I have to itemize stuff.

 

As for backing KS2--he gave the same argument that Mierce gives (needing to keep\book artists) and he had done a large wave of shipping (again, almost everything from my order) so I don't feel like I was duped into backing KS2 as, at the time, he was being pretty good with communication about the progress of everything in KS1.

 

My feelings are similar. There are still a number of models from KS1 that I would like to have had delivered, but having my wave 1 rewards in hand, makes it easier for me to write off wave 2.

 

I'll confess that I skipped Drake 2, so I don't have a second pledge weighing on my mind. I can understand how that makes it worse for the people who do.

I've said it before but I want this to come through for benji. Obviously because I want my minis but it's not only that. The minis are awesome, I really like the style, I also live in whistler ( 2 hours away from van) and it would be great to see some one from "my neck of the woods" succeed to some degree.

 

Benji needs to step up & honestly say what is going on. Sadly I backed drake 1 & 2 :/.

I too hope he makes it, at least for ks1. Though I would be happy with a set of the dragons, even if they were 3rd prints that I had to re decorate. There were some really good ideas there...

So new update.  Apperently Benji's solution for getting more money is the Canadian Show Dragon's Den--which is the same as Shark Tank here state side.  *sigh*  At least he's trying I guess but there's no way any of them will invest if the know about the KSer messup.

 

However this part of the update got me:

 

There are thousands of beautiful minis sitting around me and they look freaking amazing. International distributors are inquiring regularly about their product shipments. The demand is exceeding our capacity to produce. The company has a lot of potential and with our new ABS plastic injection molds and sprues business plan the future looks bright.

1) He has the money for ABS molds? What the hell? Edit--I see it's what he's hoping to get investment for from the TV show. Double *sigh*

2) He's fulfilling distributor orders? Probably not a bad thing if we were actually seeing that go towards finishing the project instead of freaking ABS molds.

3) If he's got thousands of minis sitting around him why not some shots as we know he has a track record for exaggerating.

I personally am funding my next business venture with this here unscratched scratch card. You rich businessmen need to help fund the purchase of more scratch cards, the rewards will be fabulous!

1.abs moulds would be yet another plan, not a reality.

2. No he is not fulfilling anything. But they might be asking where the hill their orders are on a weekly basis.

3. Thousands of minis?. Do you remember that box of rejected miscast dragon bodies?. Yup. Pretty much it, apart from some leftovers from wave 1. I would be very surprized if any other minis at all have been produced.

 

I dont mean to sound as if i am dejected by the whole fustercluck, (i have heard it all before, hence i no longer can believe anything that man says or writes) but i am so there you are.

Man......... To produce the advertised product from both KS1 and 2 he would need the kind of money that Kingdom Death took in........probably TWICE OVER. To do that he would need to sell enough new product to all new and totally trusting customers to cover the cost of producing the tools, buyign the boxes, paying the shipping payign for the casts paying the postage on the individual orders.......

 

I honestly do not see how he has avoided criminal fraud charges.

I almost backed one... Then I backed two but got out before it ended... I really liked the look of the models. If they were available in hard plastic somewhere in retail, I would buy. But... anything involving risk like a kickstarter... then.... no.
