March Miniature Challenge

Does Legend of Zelda could as JRPG for the purposes of this contest? When I thought it was any RPG my first thought was Ultima, but I'm now at a loss.

I'm doing an Ultima mini so it counts for the theme. But Zelda is definitely a jrpg.

I'm considering Sofia from Rune Factory 3 or Link from the Legend of Zelda series (Link will be the Overladen Henchman, if I do him).

Legend of Zelda definitely counts as does most other similar action RPGs.

I am gunna do characters from Ogre Battle. Love that game so much. So many endings for a Snes game. lol

I miss that game... Actually, I think I only had Ogre Battle 64. Still a lot of fun.

 

And sadly I think I'm going to have to sit out of this one. I need to get my painting skills up to a decent level before I try to enter a contest.

I'm entering in the hopes of getting feedback, not in the hopes of winning. Plus, if I recall correctly, this contest has points that everyone gets! Woo, points! Gotta catch 'em all.

 

Speaking of which, any word on Achievements (or whatever they're called)?

Don't! I'm brand new too! The contests are a great motivator to paint something different, or in a different way than you normally might. The winter theme contest taught me to play with snow effects. I'd never done that before! This one, with the character I've chosen, is going to force me to look at how to add a more "steampunk" sort of aesthetic (engineer that builds airships in an otherwise straight-up fantasy setting). Don't enter expecting to win. Enter expecting to learn. :)

I'm new too.. dont let that dissuade you.. you earn points regardless of skill level, just not max points.. I've only painted 3 minis since i started so dive on in!

As they've said, everyone wins in these. It's more about having a fun theme to work with for me. Last summer I was new, we all are when we start! Just jump in, read a lot, ask tons of questions and most importantly, practice!

 

On a side note, my mini is in the new tear in reality in Denton, so not sure when I'll actually get started on it once shipping is factored in...

The points and earned achievents will be viewable on our website, the particular section is under construction but we should have it up by the end of the week.

So, i ordered the base minis for my project from my FLGS. Should be here by next Wednesday at the latest. Now I just need to figuer out how to make a Folding Chair!

Got some of the minis ordered for this. My main character is already here, but the companion characters for the group had to be ordered. I hope they are not too different in size.

I'm going for Cid Highwind from Final Fantasy VII.

 

I'm going to base him off of a Chronoscope mini with some converting.
