I wonder if they will ever fix the issues with some of the frames sometimes down the road. Not to mention they could with some adjustment make a few less parts. There was no need to make the legs be in 2 halves for the destroids.

Believe me, this was complained about endlessly when Palladium first shared photos of the prototypes. IIRC the final releases actually have less parts than the original prototypes, but they claimed there was no way to mold the legs for the Destroids in one piece.  I put it down to pressure from HG to produce "accurate" models, rather than "practical" gaming miniatures, and a general ignorance of the injection molding industry on the part of Palladium.

They are both bigger and smaller than I expected. I was sorta thinking they were 1/285 like Btech. I think this is inline with Robotech though? The Zentradi mechs were somewhat larger than the humans?

They are the same scale as BattleTech (1/285) but many of the mechs (especially the Zentradi) are not the size as BattleTech. Remember, in BT the Marauder is piloted by a 6-foot tall human, in RT the Glaug is piloted by a 30-foot tall Zentradi.

Yeah, they are in the same scale as battletech, but they are not the same mechs. It's funny because in the Battledroids (precursor to battletech) they included 1/200 scale macross and dougram mechs in them. This was before they had actual minis or a standardized scale for battletech.

About the destroid legs, these are definitely one case where there could be no lack of detail if is was cast as one piece. There is no overhang on the basic legs that would interfere with single casting in a metal die. The only reason I can think of doing it this way was to save on the amount of plastic being put into these things. But for the price they will be charging retail, they could have definitely eaten a few millionths of a penny.

For some of them, I think they do need to be in two parts. The spartan, for example, has two, parallel ridges that run down the front of its lower leg and again on its foot. Those details leave a concave section between them, that would constitute an overhang if the lower leg was one part. The same may be true of the little "brackets", or whatever that you see on the Phalanx / Tomahawk legs. (Not sure how easily you can work around such a tiny overhang with injection molded plastic.)

It's a bit of a pain, and some better engineering might have put some of the seems in more hidden places, but I don't think they went beyond reason.

This is what I meant by pressure from HG to produce accurate models.  Some minor redesign of the surface detail would have allowed them to lower the parts count significantly without 90% of players even noticing, but they were not allowed to do so becuase of HG doesn't undedrstand the difference between scale models and gaming pieces.

My pledge arrived this morning. It is a very big box of stuff, the core box game plus a big bag of freebees. I haven't even opened the main box, the bonus bag has enough to keep me occupied for a while. There are a lot of pieces, but I think because I was already prepared for that it doesn't seem so bad. The quality seems quite good, I'm not seeing any obvious warping or flash.

Awesome.  Mine are in tracking limbo at the moment.  Left the US 3 days ago, haven't made it to Canada yet..

What kind of value did they put on the customs slip?

Got mine today. Now that I have them in hand, the figures don't look that hard to assemble, and are made of a higher quality plastic than I was expecting. I'm quite pleased thus far. Now I just have to wait on the rest of the stuff. Super Valkyries mmmmm

They aren't too bad at all. I put together a Regult Tactical Battlepod, and it went together very easily. I picked an easy one for the first test, but still, it doesn't seem like it will be too bad, and will probably get a lot easier with repetition. The plastic seems quite sturdy, nothing broke when I tossed it at the wall... for science!

I've had mine for a week or so now . . . put together 9 Valkyries in Fighter mode and have 1 Gerwalk mode assembled with another on the table.

Lessons learned so far: Attach missiles to the wings of the Fighter mode BEFORE attaching it to the base. Also, still not sure how the two handed GU-11 for the Gerwalk is supposed to be positioned.

I'm thinking I'm going to have to paint the Gerwalks before mounting them on the bases for sanity's sake.

I should have mine by about wednesday next week. I plan to do some WIPs to test some theories gleaned from my old macross model building days, and also what I learned from using reaper paint on model cars. Like with Bones, my objective will be good looking with a minimum of effort and time. I thought this might prove useful to those facing a large horde to do.

Solved my problem with the Valkyrie Gerwalk 2 handed pose. If you hold the sprue with the 2 handed GU-11 in the lower left corner, the two shoulder pieces right above it put the arms in the right position for the pose.

Thinking I'm going to go through my remastered DVDs, take screen shots and use the power pallet to ID the proper MSP colors to paint the models. The hex codes in the book aren't a whole lot of use to me unless I can find a source that links those to the MSP colors.
