Since I know nothing about Numenera, and it has nothing to do with Planescape anymore, I'll probably just wait for final release before getting it. I hope it does well, though! I love inXile and got Wasteland 2 via KS. It's going to be awesome ::D:

I followed the Numenera kickstarter and while the setting looked cool the system didn't and that's one of the reasons I'm not pledging for the game. I don't need my RPG to be crazy cumbersome but it really didn't have much in the way of rules all together. Character creation, arguably the best part of an RPG, was only like 4-5 basic steps.

I also feel people may end up being disappointed in this as it's not the same as Wastlands, this is an all new IP that's paying homage to nostalgia--those rarely work out well. Also Obsidian really hasn't ever put out a game that was very good quality. Black Isle they are not.

I'm ok with an rpg about character development and story. To me, stats and classes and skills just get in the way. And the setting was really the main thing Planescape brought to the table for Torment.

Since a bunch of the same guys are making it with the same intentions, I have a feeling it will turn out ok.

Personally I wasn't crazy about the setting or the mechanics, but the setting was good enough to be a decent basis for good writers to use and I doubt the mechanics will have anything to do with the computer game. I can't even imagine that they will touch the mechanics more than taking the names of a few things and slapping them on more concrete mechanics.

Yeah, I feel the game will be good. I'm just not excited enough about it (since it isn't Planescape) to pre-order it almost 2 years out. But like I said, I hope it does really well, there are some incredible talents attached to this project.

As for character development and story, those are excluded from a comprehensive character on paper, it's just I like to have details flushed out in hard numbers on my sheet. It's why my go-to system for great story and gameplay is World of Darkness. To me, it's the perfect balance between easy to play, story-driven gameplay along with a clear-cut, yet detailed character creation method. :;):

Well I'm excited, for me the joy of Torment was the dialogue, different style of game you got depending on your stats (str/int/charisma especially). Planescape added a fantastic element to the game due to it's variety of characters and difference of experience. So many cool areas.

I feel they can definitely do all of that in the Numenera (whatever that is). This is definitely something that could be amazing.

I didn't realise that Numenera was a real setting, I thought it was something that they were making up. I'm actually happy about it being something already created as regardless of the system, it should add more backstory and history.
