Hi everyone !

New on this forum, I discovered Reaper with the Bones Kickstarter (and dropped a fistful of dollars there ^_^ ).

So, while I'm waiting for my first Reaper minis to come to my mailbox, here are some other minis (from the boardgame Zombicide, Guillotine Games)

Full size image (and some closer shots) here (warning, french blog inside :;): ).

Yep, me too

I like what you did and again I'm frustrated that I didn't find the Zombicide KS before it was over...

Same for me, I managed to get El Cholo, Dave and Nick but that's all... ::(:

clever basing!

White line for Walkers & Fatties (1 Action Point), Yellow line for Runners (2 AP).

I must find another trick for the addons to come (Toxic City Mall w/ Toxic Zombies, and Prison Outbreak w/ Berserker Zombies). ::o:

Green lines and red lines? Green-toxic spill/Red-Blood Splatter?

Nicely done, though. I haven't painted my game, but enjoy playing it.

Do you have any reaper, mantic or games workshop zombies or other miniatures? Could you make a photo together with some zombiciders?

Ooook is a cool name. :-)

You could paint the bottom or the round side in another color than black.

Awesome paint job! I really like the bases, too.

Here's a comparison chart of the Zombicide zombies (when I first got them, before I started painting), compared against assorted representatives from the rest of my zombie horde collection of various games (and scales, it appears):

Like Oook, I found the "typical" Zombicide standing mini to measure about 32mm from base of feet to eye level. That's comparable to many of my Chronoscope miniatures (though the scale varies widely in a few examples of the line), and to some of my HorrorClix/HeroClix minis ("some" because scale is NOT very consistent in the Clix lines). By comparison, the "Zombies!!!" bag o' zombies yields figures who stand 25mm from base of feet to top of head (so despite many recommendations I've gotten to just "get a bag o' zombies" to provide a zombie horde for my Chronoscope survivors to face ... nuh-uh -- that's going to look laughable). The Wargames Factory original zombies measure 25mm from bottom of feet to eye level -- and about 28mm to top of head. The Wargames Factory Zombie Vixens (not pictured) are actually noticeably taller than the male zombies from the same manufacturer (and also have more definition of detail).

I've yet to find any minis that really exchange well with the Zombicide minis (not that I've put in a heroic effort on it or anything). The Zombicide minis have a very "reedy" look compared to many miniatures of the same scale -- basically having more realistic, less "chunky" proportions compared to many minis lines. The closest I have might be my Dust Tactics minis -- but that's of little consolation since the look of the figures is so different in other ways.

By the way -- I've found that the plastic trays the figures originally came in make for pretty good storage -- as long as you don't "build up" the bases. Since the bases pop in without any rubbing of the figure against plastic, it seems to be as good of protection as putting them in foam -- perhaps even better, since foam has a slight abrasive quality. The trouble is in getting the figures to FIT back where they started. I found a useful approach to deal with that:

Basically, I line up the zombie bases from left to right, and paint numbers or letters on the bottoms of the bases, then put a note on the tray itself as a reminder of what the order is. Once I've got a system like this, the zombies can be put away pretty quickly -- and I can keep everything in the original box. (I just get rid of some of the spare spacer plastic that wasn't accomplishing anything but to fill space, rubber-band the cards and put the popped-out tokens and the cards in Ziploc baggies to minimize spilling around the box interior.)

P.S., painting the bases of the runners a different color (or yellow stripes) is practically a necessity. Playing the game with unpainted figures becomes a real chore when it comes down to separating the runners from the rest of the pack. Sure, the runners have unique poses, but when you've got a big table and a lot of players, it's easy to make mistakes when you're trying to move things along quickly. I've even had one of the survivors with a similar shade of grey plastic get mistaken for a zombie. Even if you don't go so far as to paint the set (and it DOES paint up nicely), at the very least color-coding the runner bases will help playability greatly.
