... And Justice Was All He Had To Give

Recommended Posts

Dude, first mini?!

(Ok, I did read first mini to be completed, and I know myself I had painted like 20-30 minis before one was ever truly 'done'.)

But still, you have done a very fantastic job. I like the basing effects you used and etc.

I didn't quite believe it myself, when everyone told me that there was no substitute for "butt in the chair time", but seeing my own painting grow over the past year, it is very true. You got a great start, and can't wait to see your next ventures, cause they are gonna be great!

Great base! The highlights on his tabard are very well done too.

Did you add a wash over the golden armor? It look very realistic.

Thanks!

Yes I washed it in black, but I did not do any drybrushing or highlighting. When I tested drybrushing it would ruin the shine of the armor.

:) I practiced on a lot of plastic ones from a few board games and did a lot of reading around the net. I would never had thought to wash or drybrush on my own.

Hm. I seem to have merely blocked the cocks. Need some smooth gradient work maybe.
I belive this to be a new, digital sculpt for the Bones 4 KS.

Reaper Miniatures, Bones 4 KS 2017
      Sculpted by ??
      Bonesium PVC.
      30mm round lipped base
should be available from reapermini.com some time in the future

Arnold is a bit on the short side, isn't he? Or is that perhaps Brienne the Beauty's taller sister?

I have cut off the integral bases,  as I like them all to have similar base styles, and the Bones bases are all over the place.. Even though some of the newer oval ones are nice, in the end they just had to go.

Hi all.  I may have finished this guy in record time.  I am trying this new thing where when I want to stop and get up from my desk... I don't .  This is a bugbear that I just primed with a couple others even though I didn't really have any strong feelings about him.  But as I started working on him I started to get more excited, which is something that's been happening to me more now.  I just start a mini to get more stuff painted and end up liking the job.  I have started to put more effort into highlighting because I got a nudge here on the forums and I am so glad I did.  I really like the work I did on his armour, bringing the scales up to a brighter orange and ticking the edges with silver to make it look like the orange was paint wearing off.  In person he really glitters with that silver, something that didn't quite come across in the picture.  I like the highlighting I did with his skin and loincloth and also the silver rivets on the arm and shin guards.  I hope you all like him too!

Here is my Knight Templar.  This is the first model I painted after about 5 years of not painting any miniatures.

Keith is very happy that he joined the Cult of the Obsidian Otter. He's met lots of like-minded people, he's getting plenty of fresh air and all that axe-swinging is building his upper body strength.

And the fact he can't get She Sells Sanctuary out of his head is just a bonus.

So this is the first time I tried painting freehand on the shield  This is the end result of the conversion:

And for the conversion part, I didn't like neither this minis pose, nor its weapon choice (pickaxe really???), nor its commie looking (???) sigil on the shield. So I removed the weapon and sanded the shield. I also think that his pose looks a lot more natural as a spear throw than a pickaxe swing.. Also gave him some simple terrain and a quick paint  Thanks for looking!
