What kind of water making stuff did you use?

For Water, if you don't need to see deeper into the water, I would use normal colors. The colors of the water could be blue, green, brown or a mix. And after it 4-5 layers of glossy varnish to get a wet look.

For Lava I would use only colors and use not a glossy varnish. I don't think it need to look wet.

Your base is very good. Even the Lava do not really need more glowing. That most lava bases and tutorials made the same error, is not your fault. (Similiar error is sometimes made with fire.) Even the tutorial in my Link of my second thread made the same error. There I learned about how should lava look like about 2 or 3 days ago. The only change I would make, would be few more yellow bubbles in the middle of the lava.

I like the OSL on the Liche/Necromancer and how he looks like.

The green OSL on the dragon scull is little to much. I think the dragon is much to white, but who could tell how dragon bones would look like. :-) They could be even grey, green or with purpur-yellow stripes... :bday:

(The Bones could need little OSL from the Lava, but I think OSL is really not easy and before I would ruin my paintings, I would not do it, too!)

I really like to see more of you paintings.

You did an excellent work on the base. The glowing eyes are a great touch.

I'm curious about how hard/easy it was to assemble Kaladrax, that's a big model, did it took you long and does it seem to be fragile?

Thank you :)

It was fairly easy to assemble Kaladrax. The wings were a nice tight fit before even glueing them. It was a bit tough at one point because the glue refused to dry on a leg and arm, but that seems to be the way superglue is. Probably my 3rd application the glue worked. Keeping him balanced was a challanged while waiting. Gaps here and there that I filled in too.

It was actually tougher to paint due to the awkwardness of the figure. I like the hold the minis while painting and I kepted twisting, turning and flipping him while painting. At least I know the glue is holding well enough.

I used the gorrilla super glue with the blue cap, works great.

Lava Police

I was fine with the way the lava looked before... But you took it from looking 'fine' to looking total awesomeness. I love the little bit that drips over the side.

And with the new close ups, you are right the OSL does look better. However, my mind still thinks having eyes in the sockets would be a bit better, but as always, it's up to you. I don't want to be accused of being the Eye Police. ::D:

Wow, he looks incredible!!!! I totally love how you tied the green from the caster to the green coming from Kaladrax - I can totally tell that he's under the control of the caster, and that's really neat.

As for your lava, I thought the first base was great, but your second one is far and away more awesome. It definitely looks like it's molten, flowing lava, particularly with the drips on one side.

I'm sorry that the Lava Police (whoever they are...) made you feel badly about your first base (which was definitely a very good job, especially considering you were barely coming back to painting), but you definitely improved by leaps and bounds from your first to your second, and improvement is always a good thing! ^_^

I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work, the whole piece is very well done!

Oh, I almost forgot, the forums are actually having a dragon contest, and I think your piece would be a great addition: http://www.reapermini.com/forum/index.php?/topic/49645-here-be-dragons-2013-single-dragon-entry/

This is very well painted and your OSL is really nice. Not too much, but just enough to make this really pop. I love that the lava is flowing off the base, it gives the impression the dragon is going to come flying off the base and attack. Excellent basing.

It feels very dangerous and that's the best part.

wow, what a transformation! the new base is a fantastic upgrade. i like that you went with a smaller and more practical base size. the effects themselves seem much refined, as well. i dont mind the liquid lava/magma effect at all. being undead these guys could exist in an environment hot enough to keep the surface from cooling with no problems.

Cool! I'm very thankful for all the encouragement I got before and present.

lol, eye police. I think you are safe.

I would not want to discourage Teskal either, just poking a little fun. He was a big help and I did study his pics.

I still like your idea and at least I have the thought in my brain for maybe a future model.

I find it funny how the "lava" is so wrong, (Lava Police) but the "Dragon and Necromancer" are done so well, BTW I agree, I love it all and wish I was half as talented.

I think in the world were the "Dragon and Liche/Necromancer" hang out and cook hot dogs and fairies and stuff, that the lava looks pretty much the way it is depicted on that lava style lake.

While the stuff the lava police showed looks more like it came from the surface of earth from some island volcano. Some of it coming down a volcanic cone or something like that with some good speed . Great photos, but when I see them with back from the dead dragons and Necromancers I will take the rest of the advice that this is how lava must look and every other way is "a mistake".

Until then I say the Folks doing lava do it pretty well in most cases. YMMV

Heh, your Lich reminds me of Skeletor from He-Man.

Thats pretty good man. I'm not sure I could do much better myself, as I'm a noob.

Some crits I would agree with is the bone white is a bit too white, would be nice to have more texture in there, maybe some 'age'.

Alternatively / optionally, I'd suggest having a bit of lava reflection coming off the underside of Kaladrax.

I think your 2nd Base is absolutely cool. Wow. Love this base.

The first base was cool, too. Even if I said the lava is wrong, the paint job itself was a really good one.

It is never nice to have spent a long time to paint something and after it to hear it's wrong. I didn't wanted to be rude, if I was I'm sorry.

But if I see Lava or Fire is not correct, I will tell it, we learn every day something new and it is good so.

Please proceed with new pictures of you work,

The Lava Police. :;):
