Giant Bases

Disclaimer: I couldn't find another thread about this, so I've put here on the Warlord Rules Discussion.

 

I'm first a Wargamer and just after a Miniature painter and collector. But still, I like my miniatures and I like to see them in bases that fit the bill. For standard, large and cavalry bases I have no issues. But giant bases seem to me for some miniatures very small. The miniature doesn't fit well. My question is.

 

Is there any gaming problem to have the giants in 3'' square bases? They fit so much better.

I feel that is someone loses by fitting them in 3'' square bases is me, by the extra number of enemies that can go to B2B combat, right?

The biggest issue is if the model has SA Swingthrough, then you are giving yourself an added bonus of being able to hit more models.

Yes. You're right on that one. Do you think that the added figures in B2B could compensate that? And being easier to be hit by area attacks?

I live in Portugal.

I'll never play an Official game of Warlord.

I'll rule in my games that Giant base may be of different sizes to accomodate the miniature.

Pros and cons make it almost balanced.

As long as everyone at the table is ok with it base size is irrelevant as noted in other threads.

 

Personally I'd like to see a move to round bases, but I've ordered the square bases to cover the army needs I have for the moment.
