jah-joshua
hey Reaper people...here is my final commission...after ten years booked solid, i'm ready to take some time for myself, return to competition, and improve my technique... i may even finally paint up some of my Reaper minis:)...this is a mash-up of the original metal Draigo and metal Calgar...needless to say, he weighs a ton...it was nice to get a chance to revisit the first Calgar Grand Master i did a couple years ago, as many people thought it lacked a bit of "Grey Knightness"...replacing Calgar's chest with a cast of Draigo's really makes a difference...a much more imposing version of Draigo, i think...i'm not sure why the client wanted him armed with a halberd, so i threw the sword on his hip for wysiwyg purposes...here is the link if you care to vote:http://www.coolminiornot.com/328728thanks for looking...i hope you like him...cheersjah
ShadowRaven
normally, I don't care for NMM, I find it looks too artificial, however the job you did on that halberd blade is exceptional. That banner is just disturbingly well done, I half expect to see it flutter with his movements, and those are just two of the exceptionaly well done details. I salute you and your brush my good sir. Nameless
good stuff! blue OSL isn't quite convincing, but that's just some nitpicking from me

Jabberwocky
Awesome work as usual. Glad to see you still at the brush and I look forward to seeing some non commission stuff from you. I find the minis I've painted for myself are nearly always more inspired and fun.
jah-joshua
thanks guys... glad everyone seems to like this dude... it was a lot of work, but i'm happy to end my professional career with a unique piece... @Nameless: yeah, OSL is still something i'm working to improve... my poor photography doesn't help either:(... @Jabberwocky: i'm starting off with the Knight Models 72mm Boba Fett, so yeah, i'm pretty excited to dive into my mini pile:)... cheers jah
Mercius
Jah, nice to see your painting up here again. Lovely model as always....metals are nice, NMM on the blade is top notch. I think the OSL if done well, it is understated and I kind of like it. I went and voted.
Stern Kestrelmann
Cool conversion. Is this NMM? If so, I need to know how you acheived the NMM silver on the armor. Otherwise, it looks like standard metallic gold and silver paint work. Either way, cool stuff. SK
Thes Hunter
Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. Love the Halberd, very very very nice NNM. I think the blue tones and blending really make it. VERY VERY nice lettering on the armor. Wow. Did it take long? (I'm guessing so....) Nice detailing on the bottom of the cloak as well. I can see why you were booked up for 10 years. Can't wait to see where your creativity takes you!
jah-joshua
thanks for the kind words, everyone... @Stern: just standard metallics... i have only done NMM on cloth so far, for embroidery... NMM is one of the things i'm looking forward to exploring, especially on my Rackham collection:)... @Thes: thanks man... the lettering was a few nights work, being patient and fixing all the little mistakes, not pushing too much (which seems to lead to bad painting)... right now i'm painting the Knight Models 72mm Boba Fett, my first mini in that scale, so i'm pretty excited... i own a ton of rare stuff, so the future will be full of cool surprises... cheers jah
