I wish there was the option of allowing a GenCon pick up, for those of us that are going down. No duties and cheaper shipping for Reaper. The total of exemptions of us returning Canadians would allow it all to be duty free.

I don't think that you will be the last Canadian to get your shipment. Maybe second last, but not last. I seem to be cursed in life to always be last, so I fully expect to receive mine well after all of the others in my area (and the rest of Canada), perhaps even after the last shipment arrives at the last destination in the RoW.

The only problem with this plan is that Reaper isn't going to Gencon.

I'm of two minds about it, and that's because of all the fun I have in this community.

 

On the one hand, I'm super greedy to get my Bones. Like, yesterday. I'm all prepped, ready to go, I've even ordered Wyrmgear's decals and I have the Kaladrax paint set (not a real paint set, just enough bone triads to do several of them).

 

But on the other hand, this is an experience best shared. And we're all in the same maple leaf boat as things crop up. There's a bond forged from common adversity. And personally, however greedy I am, I think I'd like it more if I knew we were all going out on the same palette - our Bones making the long joureny together as comrades in plastic. Our Kaladraxes and Nethyrmauls and Vampires all enjoying the same epic final journey to our homes and tables.

 

And then, within a short space of time, we can all meet up here and get to work on some shared WIP threads. That's the ultimate way to conclude this epic funtime adventure we all started last August, and that blossomed into this huge event we were all part of.

 

And if, in the meantime, our woes mean that our US and International friends can get shipped so we're all getting stuff closer together - well, I think I'm cool with that, too.

 

The kickstarter thread brought me into this community in a big, big way and it's been a treat getting to know and hang out with you people. A genuine pleasure. Now we come to the end of our Kickstarter epic adventure, and I want to see everyone at the finish line. I'm willing to wait to see that happen. I think it makes the final fulfillment of the reward that much more awesome, because challenge and adversity made the road harder than expected.

 

We didn't just buy these minis. We fought for them. And so did Reaper, and so did all those anonymous workers in China. All of us, together, taking all the slings and arrows and setbacks and disappointments. Powering through, grinding on. Never say never, and never say die!

 

I wouldn't have had it any other way.

Now, current data re: Canada and ROW.

Canada, we can process to your 3 Easternmost provinces, but not to the West. It's a thing. I'm not pleased but we need another form signed to ship to Calgary. I am not sure right now if we will return to Canadian shipments tomorrow as originally planned - with only 750 to go, I think we want to do them all and not do just Hal of those. Either way, when I'm done typing this, I'm breaking down pallets for reprocessing.

ROW: your stuff is going US Postal, and we are anticipating 2 days of fulfillment there. I'm waiting on a phone call from the Denton postmaster to arrange them to leave us a truck rather than our usual carrier.

I think that's everything. For those worried, we really are trying to solve this as fast as possible - and we do appreciate your patience. 1,100-1,300 people a day are getting their parcels, and we should finish the remaining 9,626 in just over 7 work days. That should be before we leave for July 4 Holiday, Again, assuming no further Kablooie.

Now I'm in those easternmost provinces. I am, in fact, in the easternmost province of all. I'm as far east as North America goes.

 

It's Reaper's call, but I'm prepared to wait until we can all get our Canadian goodies and let them do US/RoW in the interim until the issue is resolved.

 

 

Has anyone informed UPS / Reaper that Calgary is underwater?

:) I'm a bit curious as to why there is a paperwork difference between importing into the West and into the East given the fact that it's federal jurisdiction - there shouldn't be any difference unless the CBSA threw some in just for fun.

There are some weird rules about interprovincial trade. My guess is that it has something to do with that rather than bringing them across the federal border.

They are being trucked up across the border though right? How are the highways leading in to Calgary?

There are some weird rules about interprovincial trade. My guess is that it has something to do with that rather than bringing them across the federal border.

 

Interprovincial trade still belongs to the feds - 91(2) of the Constitution ('The Regulation of Trade and Commerce' clause) covers interprovincial trade. Provincial laws are only allowed to have an incidental effect on interprovincial trade, anything that restricts trade is outside their jurisdiction.

 

Not that I'm disputing that there could be weird rules - I'm just curious what's causing the difference when theoretically the feds should have one set for the whole country. This seems like a bunch of red tape that is screwing up trade.

I didn't mean to suggest that interprovincial trade wasn't federal jurisdiction, just that it was a separate thing from foreign import/export rules. Sorry if I was unclear.
